Ecotality, Inc of Scottsdale was awarded a $99,800,000 grant to build 12,800 charging stations in five states for electric cars. Ready? The charging stations will only support the Nissan Leaf, 1000 of which will go on sale in each of the five states late next year.
An additional $2,400,000,000 is being thrown at numerous companies in an effort to solve problems with delicate and heat sensitive lithium-ion batteries, which would currently cost $40,000 to install in a car.
Of course, if all of these problems can be solved, the electricity to charge electric cars will still have to be generated, using coal or petroleum for the forseeable future. Your tax dollars at work. - :rolleyes:
 
Funny how the morons in Washington refer to billions of dollars like you and I would refer to a $20 bill. Oh well, I guess when you are TRILLIONS in debt, a couple of billion or so ain't much.:mad:
