De Joria looking for strong finish in Pomona (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]POMONA, Calif. – NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Alexis De Joria and the Tequila Patrón/Jack O’Bannon Racing team will be looking to bounce back from a tough outing in Las Vegas for her home event, this weekend’s Auto Club Finals at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif. Not only does she hope to make a strong showing in front of her home town friends and family, but her dad, John Paul De Joria, founder of Paul Mitchell Hair Products and Patrón Spirits Co., will be in attendance as well.

De Joria, 31, of nearby Venice, Calif., is confident about her team’s chances this weekend.

“We have a pretty good idea of what caused the car to smoke the tires in Vegas last weekend,” said De Joria. “The car has been showing a ton of potential the last few races, so I’m really excited to see what the weekend holds for us.

“I really enjoy getting to race when my dad is able to attend,” De Joria continued. “I always seem to do better. He doesn’t get to come as much as he would like, but it’s just cool to have him at the track with us. We’re really looking forward to it.”

Qualifying begins on Thursday for the alcohol cars, with two more sessions on Friday. Eliminations begin with round one on Saturday and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
