Pre-Race Report
Two-time World Funny Car Champ Cruz Pedregon is looking forward to getting back to the roots of his drag racing career when he and the team arrive in Pomona, where he made his first nitro competition pass in 1991 and near where he was born in Torrance, California. After testing in Las Vegas following the Nevada Nationals, Crew Chief John “J.C.” Collins and the team are using the data to prepare for the NHRA Finals and to lay the groundwork for the 2023 season.
"We are working on getting a gauge on our clutch program, so we’re introducing some new elements to get the power of the car to match up with the clutch. We plan for that to all come together to get stronger, more consistent runs,” says Cruz. “It’s been a busy couple of weeks, attending SEMA to spend time with so many of the ‘who’s who’ in motorsports and then showing off my dad’s ‘The World’s Fastest Coupe’ at the Nitro Revival at Irwindale Speedway. Now we’re ready to finish the season with solid runs and going rounds on the final race day of the ’22 season.”

Jack stays busy away from his Snap-on franchise spotting for a drift team and doing some drift and autocross racing on his own. He’ll be spending some time here in Pomona as a spectator and in Cruz’s pit this finals weekend soaking up some nitro.
