From the Prominent Central California Valley news reporting agency the "The Tracy Press" a report that seems to indicate what may be the Chowchilla Motorsports Complex and Drag Strip development may have expanded its development scope. This proposed Racing Complex may include a golf course, a marina, an amusement park, a hotel and convention center, a vintner’s center and a casino, at the web-link provided below:

Two paragraphs in the article should catch your attention:

"The grandiose nature of the proposal boggles my mind."

"And the fact that the site for what would be called Spirit of California is in a flood plain can’t be ignored and looms as a major consideration."

.... and the author leaves plenty more indications that he may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night....

Mark, I never can figure out if you are posting this stuff as a joke, sorta like the PA announcers at the major college football games who also report the score in from the Slippery Rock College game along with the long line of D1 schools. These guys have given shooting star indications all along the way, but your postings seem to give indications that you can't wait to race there.

Just support the idea of new facilities for the sport. As we lose facilities it's always nice to replace them. While this one is not built yet, at least they are still talking about it and making and carrying out plans. Hmm, Hmm.., unlike other recently reported efforts that have fully failed. This facility would serve a number of needs and types of motorsports. I have had a number of converstations with circle track folks and they would very much like to have a major facility to utilize here on the west coast as others have become at the very least idle. A lot of their positive comments revolve around the location and the already existing infrustruture/highway system that would support the large haulers (NASCAR nationwide series, NASCAR trucks) and all the associated equipment that would need to come into to support an event. Also, its proximity to other facilities, i.e. new Kern County Raceway Park, Sonoma, SoCal, Vegas, Roseville All American Speedway, etc. I got this sense from them a real desire to have an ease of movement on a nice conveniently located highway system between circuit stops. The drag race folks I have conversed with have similar feelings and would also like another world class facility in the area.

Hope it happens! ;):)

"Drag City" talked about it, talked about it, talked about it................. That's about all they ever did. So far, this is sounding very much like the same thing. Let's add things, but don't ever start anything!

Love you Ma, but Drag City never had the level of cooperation as this project does nor the insight and overall development concept as the Chowchilla effort.

Nothing wrong with hoping! ;);):)

The golf course presently in Chowchilla can barely get by as it is. The farmers in the area will never go for it, it is just a ruse to try to get some traction-----------I have seen alot of different projects come and go here because the farmers vote against them and sit on the city and county boards, this is one of them-----------------

Remember it's not the golf course that makes money , it's the property around it------------ any drag race facility built will not last long if they build houses nearby-----------

Hey.Mark....while you were stroking yourself you FAILED to notice the TOP article is referring to a facility in TRACY....not Chowchilla. The second editorial does refer to Chowchillas Mammoth Orange which part of is stored on my property.....Now everyone knows who they are dealing with....those are separate editorials and you connected the dots like some special needs student.....BRAVO....a Mariana in Chowchilla....that should have throw up the WTF flag....your a joke.

Now you've really fired him up! They are going to build a racetrack in Chowchilla AND Tracy! Those two cities are only 86 miles apart! He's gonna wear his tow vehicle out....

Just funnin with ya Mark, you've got twice as much to hope for!

I'm not hoping to much for a motorsports facility being built around the town of Tracy, it seems any project planned for that area now has the attention of our friends at the Sierra Club;), Developer proposes massive theme park in Tracy - Times-Standard Online

It may be more productive to focus on Chowchilla! Here is a little more on the this NEW Tracy, California dream from the prominent California news reporting agency the Sacramento Bee, the article published today can be found at the link provided: Developer proposes massive theme park in Tracy - AP State Wire News - The Sacramento Bee

Building anything that complexed in ther state of California in or around that location is very hard to do-to many moving parts. Kind of like the dream some had here Sacramento to build a new arena for the NBA Sacramento Kings which finally fell apart-to many moving parts. In Cali you have to keep it simply as possible to get it done.

You actually have to race to wear out a tow vehicle....and driving a dually doesn't make you a racer. We've been to Texas...Denver ...and all over California just since June.....and that's just running our sons Junior...Mr.Clayton when we gonna see your legendary dragster at an actual event?

.....While I too would like to see a "motor sports complex" built in Northern California, but these types of things are not new by any means.....Back before Dave Smith had anything to do with Sacto Raceway, back in the '60's actually, the 2nd (or maybe the 3rd) owner of that track had a similar plan for that place.....Hotel, playland park for the younger kids, roadcourse, etc and not surprisingly nothing ever came of it.....They even had a meeting with Don Garlits and even one of his cars along with other dignitarys at a place here in Sacramento to announce it that I attended.....I'm not trying to throw cold water on this latest idea, but after having lived through several of these types deals in the past I would have to agree with Ma Green on this one.....Mainly until they actually started moving dirt and even then I wouldn't be sure anything like this will ever be really built.......................e

Fremont was a complex in a manner....had a drive in theater, an adjacent airport (albeit a glider field) drag boats (almost on the property) and drag racing....so....an almost complex....I still wish they would save the current strips rather than build new ones (I know California needs more period, so new ones are welcome) I get the feeling the older strips with character will go the way of dodo and then we really will be left with nothing but memories, some photos, and some videos, ok, perhaps some sound files, and........

Speaking of which....I have Cole Coonce's Big Sounds of the Drags on the stereo tonight.....sometimes I just like bugging the neighbors as much as they bug me.

Today, August 28, 2012 I received an *official* reply from the City of Chowchilla, California regarding the new motorsports complex planned for Chowchilla.

I asked the city of Chowchilla, "What's the latest on the new race track?"

The City of Chowchilla, California replied, "We should have new information to release within a couple of months."

I have provided a facebook link if one so desires to scroll down the page after logging one with the reply from the City of Chowchilla https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/City-of-Chowchilla/261650325178
