BURKART FINISHES STRONG, WILL START FROM THE 10th SPOT

Phil Burkart posted a very strong 4.803 during Sunday's final run, one of the best laps of that session, and will enter Monday's eliminations feeling good about his chances in the Murray's Discount Auto Monte Carlo.

"That was a great run, and almost a duplicate of what our teammates ran in their last shot effort to get in. That tells you how tough this field is, that we're elated with a 4.803, while Del's guys are crushed with their 4.806. The two night sessions here were the time to get yourself in the field, and these daylight runs were really just to see how you stack up against everyone else. We were fortunate to put a couple of good night runs on the board, which took the pressure off us, but Del had a huge mountain to climb, trying to get in the field with a 4.79 during this session.

"It ran straight down there, no problem at all, and it looks clean as a whistle. We're making good power, we've got some top-end speed, and the car is doing what it's supposed to do now. We really need to help this whole organization out with some results tomorrow, but with these 16 cars fighting out, who do you want to run? We have Gary Scelzi, so you know it's going to be tough. I'm not giving away any secrets when I tell you that our plan is to force them to outrun us if they want to beat us, because we're going to do all we can go down the track and put up a good number."
