Bluebaugh Racing’s Team AutoTrader Starts Season in Fontana

March 2008 - Kelly Bluebaugh and Crew Chief Deborah Woodard of the World’s Fastest Organization are set for the season open with their Pro Street AutoTrader Monte Carlo. Bluebaugh Racing’s Team AutoTrader will head for the Pacific Street Car Associations (PSCA) Spring Break Shootout March 14-16, 2008 at the California Speedway in Fontana, California. This is a tardy start for West Coast PSCA racers as the beginning of the season was delayed by rain in late January. Bluebaugh is back in the driver’s seat for 2008 giving over his previous position as a crew chief to Woodard. The competition in the PSCA is expected to be fierce this year with a number of teams stepping up their program. Last season the PSCA saw the first of Pro Street cars dipping into the 6.30’s and more average times in the 6.40 ET range than in previous years.

The Auto Trader Monte Carlo is a relatively new car for us said Bluebaugh and we are all excited to see what the season will bring. The team spent last season upgrading and preparing the Monte Carlo for the 2008 season, while concurrently running the Team Transit Mix WFO Cavalier. The car not scheduled to run until 2008 started active competition late in 2007 for the purpose of attracting sponsorship finishing with a 6.47 ET and a best speed of 220 mph. Woodard said the data we collected last season will definitely give us a better starting position this year. We have run this power combination to a best of 6.33 @ 221 mph in the Cavalier and hope that we can repeat the success we have had over the last two seasons of championships. The AutoTrader Monte Carlo is an RJ ProMod design, which is just a little different than the Larry Larson IHRA Prostock design of the Cavalier. We have been able to work through a number of problems typical to adapting a new car with an old power combination. As a final touch for 2008, Bluebaugh changed the original rear wing over the winter break, which is expected to help add stability on the top end for the AutoTrader Monte Carlo.

Both Bluebaugh and Woodard can hardly wait to get back to the race track though the winter break has been busy with promotions for sponsorship. Woodard said, we have the best sponsor marketing program we have ever had going into 2008. The team receives and abundance of marketable media support from AutoTrader Publishing and Speed Scene Racing’s Web Based television. We are joined this year by Mickey Thompson Tires as a member of Team Mickey Thompson. Woodard said the Monte Carlo is working very well with the Mickey Thompson drag slicks. Loperspeed.com has recently joined Bluebaugh racing in efforts to market their new online parts store. Bluebaugh has been friends with the Loper family for many years who have been in the performance parts business. Loper’s is set to as well open a performance parts shop in Auckland, New Zealand. W.W. Williams is in process of joining Bluebaugh Racing. W.W. Williams offers expert repair for large diesel trucks amongst other services nationally. Woodard will be putting out press releases soon to formally welcome each new marketing partner. Fans can catch our latest interview on SpeedSceneRacing.com found on the 02/26/2008 archive. Team AutoTrader will also appear on the Speed Channels new show called Pass Time. Bluebaugh Racing would like to thank Magna Fuel, SI Valves, Cubic Flow Modifications, Charles Carpenter Racing, and Hughes Performance for continuing support over the years. Bluebaugh Racing is supported by the World’s Fastest Organization, LLC along with WFO Racing and Machine.
