The 18-time NHRA winner qualified in the top half of the 16-car field for the 15th time in 17 races this season.

The two-time Top Fuel winner entered the final day of qualifying at the 24th annual Toyo Tires Nationals ranked sixth in the Top Fuel order after posting an opening-day qualifying effort of 3.892 seconds at 308.28 mph on Friday afternoon at Maple Grove Raceway. On Saturday's first attempt, the Matco Tools dragster overpowered the hot Maple Grove Raceway strip and slowed to a pass of 5.928 at 104.87. He then posted a run of 4.223 at 205.63. Brown has now qualified for 162 consecutive races, the second longest streak in the professional ranks (Angelle Sampey).

"We've been struggling, but the good part is that we found out what the problem was," Brown said. "We're looking forward to getting our race day consistency back. My crew chief Lee Beard has a smile on his face and that usually means we're gonna have a good day on Sunday."

Brown will match up against No. 10 qualifier Cory McClenathan when final eliminations begin at 11 a.m. (ET) on Sunday at Maple Grove Raceway. Brown is 3-2 against the 30-time Top Fuel winner this season. Brown's teammate Hot Rod Fuller qualified second in the Caterpillar dragster.
