Alexis DeJoria Advances to Final Elimination Quad at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (April 3, 2022) – Alexis DeJoria, a two-time Las Vegas event winner, was hoping to hit the jackpot at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals and score her first four-wide triumph on Sunday afternoon. The six-time Funny Car winner started race day from the No. 10 seed and parlayed her 3.958-second qualifying time to a semifinal finish by advancing to the final elimination quad.
In the opening session, DeJoria drove the Bandero Premium Tequila Toyota GR Supra through the finish line beams in 3.932 seconds to defeat Jim Campbell and Cruz Pedregon. In round two, DeJoria’s crew chiefs, Del Worsham and Nicky Boninfante, tuned her 11,000-horsepower machine to another stout run with DeJoria clocking a 3.936 E.T. to outpace John Force and Blake Alexander and move onto the final elimination round. While DeJoria posted another solid effort in the finals – a 3.954 E.T. – it wasn’t enough to get by Ron Capps and Matt Hagan who finished No. 1 and 2. The Bandero team’s semifinal appearance enabled them to move two spots up to sixth in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship Funny Car point standings.
“We made it to the final elimination round here in Las Vegas this weekend, and it was another pretty successful outing at this track for us with the Bandero Supra,” said DeJoria. “We didn’t come away with the hardware but no reason to hang our heads. We did well today. The team hustled. We made three really good, consistent runs on race day and we’re right there. I’m proud of these guys. They’re working hard and we’ll prepare for Houston and look to grab our first win of the season there.”
DeJoria and the DC Motorsports team compete next at the NHRA SpringNationals in Baytown, Texas, April 22-24.
