TIM AND KIM RICHARDS TO RETIRE AT SEASON’S END

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Oct. 13) - Budweiser/Lucas Oil Top Fuel team owner Kenny Bernstein today announced Tim and Kim Richards’ decision to retire from the sport of drag racing at the end of the 2008 NHRA season.
“We are deeply indebted to Tim and Kim for their dedication and talent,” said six-time champion Bernstein. “When Tim and Kim joined our team in 2001 we enjoyed a record-setting year filled with eight race wins and 12 final round appearances culminating in our sixth NHRA championship, our second in Top Fuel.
“Also in 2001, our Budweiser team won 61 rounds of competition which set a Top Fuel record for the most rounds won in one season. That record held until Dallas of this year.

HAGAN & CREW HEADED TO WORLD FINALS

"Racing in this IHRA Funny Car class has been a wonderful experience for us," Hagan says.
It looks like the climax of a remarkable rookie season will be the year's final race for Matt Hagan and crew this weekend at the IHRA World Finals at Rockingham Dragway.
Despite winning more races than any driver on the tour Hagan is 65 points behind leader Terry Haddock going into this weekend's event. The reason? One DNQ event and the staggering number of penalty points the team has lost.

MONSTER ENERGY FUNNY CAR TEAM ADVANCES TO QUARTERFINALS AT VIRGINIA NATIONALS

RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 12)— The Kenny Bernstein-owned Monster Energy Funny Car team made significant improvements this weekend under the tuning guidance of Mike Kloeber, qualifying in the top half of the Virginia Nationals field and advancing to quarterfinals competition.
Driver Tommy Johnson, Jr. drove the distinctive black and green Dodge Charger to the No. 8 qualifying position, posting an elapsed time of 4.070 seconds at 303.64 mph.
In the first round of Sunday’s eliminations Johnson rolled into the staging beams opposite Jeff Arend. It was a good drag race with Johnson edging Arend for the win, 4.114/305.49 to Arend’s 4.126/295.21.
