Which side is the pit side at Indy East or West?

Pro pit, east side, or right side of the track.

I think it is still (have not been since 85) on the east side of the track.

Both. The Fuel, Pro Stock, Alcohol and Comp cars are on the right side of the track (East), Pro Stock scooters and the rest of the Sportsman stuff pits on the left side (West), but that's where bigger stands and the suites are located. The suites shade the west-side stands, something that makes hot afternoons a little more bearable while the east side is squinting into the Sun until about 4 p.m. Getting back and forth isn't too bad, there's a bridge over the final section of thestaging lanes and a walkway behind them.
