Re: Enders spanks Anderson in the first round!
I'm reminded of Connolly vs. WJ at Denver, and WJ says something to the fact that he had to school the punk.......there is NOTHING that any driver like WJ or Anderson, Gaines, etc, can teach Jeggie, Connolly, Erica, Stanfield, etc on the starting line...don't mess with a sportsman racer on the tree.
I know every scenario that I may face when I pull up there, and i'm ready for it. You can guarantee that Jeg, DC are the same way.
Just sitting there not wanting to stage isn't the only game that can be played.

Re: Enders spanks Anderson in the first round!
Does anyone have any idea WHY there are two different rules for the same activity? Sportsman: Courtesy Stage; Pros: No Courtesy Stage?
Seems to me that one rule would be enough. Pick one; tell everyone exactly what it is; and enforce it.
Of course that's just my opinion... I could be wrong!

Re: Enders spanks Anderson in the first round!
David, in the comp racing it is helpful to some. Unlike the Pro cars, comp has many different setups in their cars, because of the many different classes. Some cars require more time than others. Besides, wouldn't you rather see good racing, instead of a bunch of red light singles, if they were timed out? I know I do.
In Pro classes, their racing cars with the same setups. If your ready, you prestage. Your time doesn't start until you prestage. Of course it's just my opinion too. I know that you know this, but you asked....

Why bother doing a burnout? Just stage while Greg is doing his burnout. Then you can just cruise to the finish line while he is backing up. Just think of the $$$$ you will save by being easy on parts!!

" a bunch of Red Light singles"...
Exactly my question. If there was courtesy staging the odds on time outs is greatly reduced. Erica would have backed up, restaged, and we would of had a race!

Re: Enders spanks Anderson in the first round!
My understanding is if you skip the burnout, pull in and light both bulbs, the timer still would not start till the other car prestaged. The timer did not start till Greg prestaged. He could have taken all the time he wanted if he had not lit the top bulb.

David, as the rules stand, if he would have staged, we'd have a race too. Why change the rule for him? He should follow the rules. He knows it now for sure, let's race....

The Autostart timer did not start until Rick Stewart activated the system once Greg lit his pre-stage bulb.
The starter has to activate the Autostart system. Normally they activate Autostart when both cars are pre-staged.

Is there anyone out there with a current PS license that can weigh in on this deal?

A description of Autostart:
NHRA Sony Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series: The AutoStart System
It is the only reference on the site, but is the same for Pro Stock.

Doesn't look like he needs to spend any time worrying about it according to Gieger.

Re: Enders spanks Anderson in the first round!
I wonder if Greg will attempt to prove a point soon?
By the way, I thought I read on the Mater last year that Rick doesn't actually have control of the lights once the first prestage bulb comes on during staging? That he just does all those "movements" for better TV?
