I was there last friday and the friday before, which was the first of the 4 events. This week was much much more organized and went very smoothly.

Be Nice if they could wire up some temporary clocks.

Not to mention no water burnouts!! I run S/ST in the area and would love to run at AMS but, no water burnouts is too costly and dangerous!! We spoke with the executive staff after the first friday to add some suggestions and they seemed to listen. In fact, the purpose for the friday night drags is to see if there is a need for a full dragstrip. Don't forget Bruton Smith owns AMS and they just built the 3rd Summit racing Store about 10 minutes from the track!!! Things that make you go hmmmmm

Be nice if they let the Sub 5.00 sec 1/8 mile cars run, but I bet Traction isn't that great!

Ah, come on guys. Let it just be fun. When they roll up to a traffic light and race they don't have a water box. They don't get time slips either. This is just good old 'Run what ya brung' dragracing...without bells a whistles. My compliments to whoever dreamed this up. Good job and don't touch a thing! I really like the flag girl to call the winner...that's just down right cool!

A quote from the article on competitionplus…..

....Another AMS staffer, a young woman stationed at the end of the “short” eighth-mile, signaled who won via the waving of flags, green for the right lane and white for the right.....

Wow, I’ve never seen that before…… A drag strip with 2 right lanes!!
That’s Ok, who am I to talk…… I have 2 left feet!!

I really enjoyed it don't get me wrong but, their purpose (I was told by an executive officer of AMS) for these events is to see if the spectator turnout/money is there in order to go in front of the board and show that a dragstrip facility would be beneficial to the business and area. I happen to live very close to the area which is in Metro Atlanta and being that we race on a regular basis we are all hoping it will come together. In order for us to be able to race as of now, we have to drive somewhere around 2+ hours to be able to race at an NHRA track. and don't forget, this is a Bruton Smith track.
