Re: Dale Emery
From Saturday's Norwalk notebook
DALE EMERY RECOVERING – Former “Blue Max” wrench Fred Miller confirmed that former teammate Dale Emery suffered a heart attack on Monday morning with a severe prognosis for the future. Yesterday, Miller confirmed, Emery did a medical 180-degree turn and went from requiring a heart transplant to a drastic improvement. Miller said in all likelihood Emery will undergo bypass surgery soon.

Re: Dale Emery
Thanks for the update Bobby. I have been so busy that I have not had a chance to talk to my dad! I am glad to hear that the prognosis is looking better. I would take a bypass over a transplant anyday!
Keep hanging in there Dale!

Re: Dale Emery
I talked to my Dad last night and he said Dale was doing a little better, but is by no means "out of the weeds" yet. They moved him to a hospital that has a great heart unit. He will have to undergo bypass surgery soon. My Dad said he is very lucky to be alive. He wasn't feeling good for about a week before this happened.
So here is a message to everyone...... If you are not feeling like your normal self, please get to the doctor and have them check you out.
Keep those prayers coming!

Re: Dale Emery
Suzie, I just saw this thread Sunday afternoon and couldn't believe it!!
I'm not sure if anyone knows or not but years ago Dale was at the airport in the ticket line and suffered a heart attack. As fate would have it the guy in front of him was a heart surgeon and he saved Dale's life that day.
Suzie thanks for the updates as myself or my dad hasn't called Brenda for updates as I'm sure their plate is full at the moment. Probably in a few days we'll give them a shout.

Kelly,
What a divine intervention! I hope they get this under control and he makes a full recovery. Tell your dad hello from my dad!

Re: Dale Emery
I'll never forget when Beadle & Co. ran their first five at '78 Indy. Dale says to (I believe) Waterbed Fred, "WE did that!" with a big smile on his face. Neat stuff. Get well soon, Dale!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Dale Emery
Good news everyone! I just got off the phone with my Dad and he said that they did a 5-way bypass surgery on Dale on Friday and he is doing great! He is up and walking around today. I am sure that his heart appreciates it! He has all cylinders firing!
My Dad had also mentioned if you would like to donate to the American Heart Association, please do so in Dale's name.
I will let you know more when I get the next update!
Keep the prayers coming, they seem to be working!

Re: Dale Emery
Great news. I hope he makes a full recovery. He'll probably feel better than ever. Like Suzie says, if you don't feel right get yourself checked out. Back in '02 I was tired all of the time and didn't feel right. No real pain but something seemed amiss for a couple of months. When St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Daryl Kyle died of a heart attack that summer I went in and had myself checked out. It ended up my right coronary artery was blocked 99% and I was only 37 years old. A very close family member who is a heart surgeon said I could have possibly dropped at any time.

Re: Dale Emery
Wow! 99% blocked at age 37. I sure am glad you got it checked out. I bet he feels great with the amount of blood that is able to be pumped to and from his heart! It is like removing the clog from a drain!
