Hight's Fire
That has got to be the worse one I have seen in recent years. It was really bad. I wonder if he was sitting up on the car waiting for the sand to jump off instead of on the concrete or was he hung up with all the $)## they wear these days? Anyone know?

Re: Hight's Fire
In his interview he stated that on the 2nd hit with the wall he thought he was already in the sand. SOO he climbed out to find the car still moving and rode it to a stop instead of bailing off or climbing back into the fire to find the brakes.

Re: Hight's Fire
I thought he said that when he hit the wall he thought he hit the sand and was ready to jump. But, then when he saw he was still moving, he didn't get out until it stopped.
It was pretty scary. I was holding my breath until he was out and got to the other side.

Re: Hight's Fire
Scary mofo fire man.
Very glad to see Robert OK!
I'm curious to know if the fire bottles went off or not.
The smell...........
I remember catching a whiff of Cruz's burned car at Sonoma last year.
It's one of those smells that turns your stomach.

Re: Hight's Fire
And Scott did a tremendous job in the Mustard-mobile steering clear of Rob's ride. I still don't know how he got the Solara stopped! When I saw Rob veer the one way, I thought Scott would go the other.... then Rob swerved back the other way. Quite a show.

That was very scary, I think my heart skipped a beat when he hit the walls.
Glad he is OK.

Re: Hight's Fire
Pretty nasty fire. One of the worst in a long time. When it first banged in the lights, I didn't think much of it, but man the fire didn't go out, it only got bigger and I got pretty worried. Then it went off both walls, man was I glad to see the escape hatch start to open up.
Crashes like this got me thinking... Two great racers have passed on, but their crashes may or may not of had a hand in how this played out. #1 The cockpit work they have done with the padding and belts, that being the obvious one, but how about having the guard rails being sealed up all the way to the sand. Imagine if ethier one of those hits had come at a opening in the wall (Al Hofmann anybody) and this could have been a much worse deal.

Hofmann's crash was just freaky! I still can't believe Al got out of that one.
Glad Robert was okay today, have not seen the footage yet, but from what I'm reading it was a nasty one

Re: Hight's Fire
Robert Hight Is My Hero, Can U Believe His Natural Ablity To Keep Calm Get Both Shutes Out, Get On The Brakes, Get Out Of The Seven Point Harnes, Unhook The Fresh Air & Raidio Conection, Climb Out The Car But Not Jump Off Till The Car Stoped To Keep From Being Injured While The Fire Keep Getting Worse. Then He Wanted More Than Anyone To Run In The Next Round.

I don't think its fair to the little guy to allow him to use another car if the original is unable to make the call (as in this case) he should lose the round... Thats the way it is now & I think that makes it fair to low buck $$ teams!
