I also talked about the bad car accident I saw doesn't mean I want anything to do with it.

Only that it's the worst Idea to come out of Glendora.
Last Page in the June 1 issue of ND... The Play offs and World Series are so two leagues can decide who is the Champion. March Madness is to see who's the best BB team in College... and it's a standard ladder... once you're out, you don't play...
So NHRA, Starting at Indy, only the Final 8 can run...
After Richmond, Only the Final 4...
This will make for a Quick LIVE broadcast at the World Finals... 3 Passes and the race is over... heck you can do that in two hours...
Also make for a less crowded pit area...
OR Run the Play offs as a separate Show on Saturday, and have a normal 16 car field Sunday without the people going for the championship...

It will be interesting to see if the car counts start to drop after Indy.

Hell, with Gilby already "selectively" running, and P/S teams already dropping like flies, how hard is it gonna be for some teams to just leave it in the box after Indy anyway?
TV focus is going to be directed to the teams that make the 8/4 just as a perk for getting to that point, making it senseless for some teams to even show up.. But thats just my opinion... We'll have to see come September..

Re: Force/NHRA conspiracy afoot
Whats even worse is the condesending egotistical attitude from the suits on this as well. No discussion about this, talk to only one team who needed the extra help this bs system creates. Can't get a response, even in person. OZ has spoken regardless of how stupid it is. They don't care. They figure if they cram it down our throats and make up plenty of stories glorifying it that we'll eventually fall for it. Nascar has lost market share since they went to this and there is no alternative to nascar. We at least have ihra.
At this point even if this does blow up in their faces, I fear that they will never admit a mistake and go back to a true champion.
I really feel bad for whomever wins the phony trophy this year.
I really hate hearing drivers who once complained and now because they can't find the finish line with a tail wind are all of a sudden in favor of it.
Ya know I told myself not to get worked up about this today and just to stay out of it.....at least I made it a few hours. My therapist will be happy.
Any rich people/sponsors out there I have a winning idea to make you money and to end this chase all in the same weekend.

Re: Force/NHRA conspiracy afoot
I think in regards to people staying home and not attending races...if you're in 8th places and with no mathematical place to win the championship (before the countdown), you wouldn't have a reason to go, but you still did.
I don't think it'll affect the attendance that much. If people didn't have a mathematical chance in 15th place, they still came.
It'll be interesting to see. If it affects things THAT much, and Glendora loses any money, they'll switch back, I'm sure. I mean, isn't it to them what this is all about? The almighty dollar? Increase competition and suspense? Get more fans to attend races and watch?
Okay, I'm done. Peace out.

Re: Force/NHRA conspiracy afoot
More fans to which races?
The new system, in effect, takes away meaning from the first 17 races.
It emphasizes the last 2 races very heavily, which were more and more heavily attended in recent years anyway without a B.S. contrived points scheme.
Makes no sense at all. The total opposite as a matter of fact.
Larry Morgan said it best.
Rant off.

Seems to me there are lots of reasons to race even if your out of the top eight-- Win Money would be the biggest. You can still win the race, gain info going down the track, and gain momentun for next year.

And for East Coast teams, the 2000 mile tow can only accomplish one of three of those.. IF they are lucky too..

Re: Force/NHRA conspiracy afoot
I'm not a big fan of this new deal. However, I don't see car coounts dropping after Indy. By Indy, there are plenty of racers who are mathematically out of the Championship hunt, but they are full-pull racers and finish the season. Racers don't stop racing because they can't win the championship, shooting for a national event win is still important. No money will certainly park a team, however!

How can you forget Mike Ashley and Brian Corradi?? That ain't chopped liver there...they're a serious force to contend with (no pun intended). I for one am glad to see that..Mike is a great driver and I've liked Brian since he was with Dean (Still my all time favorite f/c driver).... speaking of...where's Skuza (someone had to say it )
