Re: Kudos to Paul Page
I agree say what you want about Paul he did a good job and it was a great opening tribute by ESPN2 for Eric.
I also liked what Mike Dunn said he is a class act all the way!

Re: Kudos to Paul Page
I was impressed as well. Mike Dunn was especially impressive. He spoke with great conviction. Way to be, Mike.
Paul Page's was nice but it seemed a little "scripted." Not trying to bash him with that. It just seemed to me it was a tad bit homogenized. I could be wrong, I hope so. RIP, Eric. |

Re: Kudos to Paul Page
wow that was a tear jerker. i found myself getting very emotional during that broadcast. i was also impressed that the nhra actually gave some insight to what took erics life. maybe we will see a change in attitude from all due to this tradgedy. the next race is gonna be even more emotional being that jfr will be there. cudos too dunn and paul page that had to be ruff on those guys too. and i liked warrens comments.

Re: Kudos to Paul Page
I have to admit, when I first saw it was Paul Page that was going to do the tribute to Eric,I felt a little let down.I thought at first they should have let Mike dunn do it,but after watching it I felt Paul did a very good job.I'm sure it was somewhat scripted, but that probably made it easier to get through such a difficult piece. My hat's off to Paul for a job well done.

Re: Kudos to Paul Page
I think Paul did a really good job, Maybe with Mike being so close to the NHRA family it was a good call to have Paul start off. As far as WJ's statement being bold he never has been one to hold back. A job well done by all,Very moving

Re: Kudos to Paul Page
Indeed... credit where credit's due. A very nice job by all, especially Paul. What a tough way to start a show.
I thought Whit's comments after his run were especially poignant. God bless the guy... he wears his heart on his sleeve through thick and thin. Slowly but surely I'm becoming a Whit fan. Of course it's easier now that he's not in FC.

Re: Kudos to Paul Page
As much as I hate rain delays and what they do to the event and the people involved, having yesterday rained out gave them a lot of time to pay tribute to Eric from a lot of people, and it gave them a lot of time to discuss possible safety changes.
It was especially touching to hear from Ryan Elliott (the clutch specialist for Grubnic) after reading his addition to the Kalitta blog and how Eric touched his life. If we'd had 4 qualifying sessions to squeeze into the broadcast, I'm not sure they'd even have had time to interview very many of the drivers about how Eric affected them. It seemed especially right to have a crew member who aspires to be a driver talk about how Eric inspired him and gave him hope for any crew member to rise to driver level, in addition to their friendship. Choking up again now...I need some ice cream.
