Re: Drunks In The Stands
So these types of behavior aren't just a Virginia thing? That makes me really sad. I guess you can run but you can't hide. Does anyone have any experience staying trackside in an RV. Those folks seemed to have a good vantage point at VMSP, but the grass always looks greener.

Re: Drunks In The Stands
at a place like Gainesville, if you're seated in the first row you really can't see very well. the wall is in the way. So they stand , and it's a domino effect all the way back. I don't blame the fans, I blame the track. Prior to this year, the only good place to watch was Top Eliminator. Now , there's another stand on the Spectator side that is angled. It'll be awesome.
As far as drinking , I started going to the drags again back in 97 after 17 years of not going. I didn't even think about beer. I think I read on here a few years ago that they don't serve beer. I thought, oh, yah, I guess not.
Hadn't even occurred to me. And I'm about to go pour a pint of Guiness...so I likes my beer.....but man. When I 'm at the drags, WHAT ELSE IS THERE.

The worst part about standing up to see around the standing up guy is finding a safe place to set your beer down so it doesn't get knocked over.
We've been trackside in an RV at Firebird for many years. 900 ft. down track and right on the fence. It doesn't get much better than that.
Now if our neighbors would quit standing up on their RV......

Re: Drunks In The Stands
I don't know who would ever expect the standing thing to end. Like was just said, "domino effect." Wouldn't it be worse if it were boring enough that nobody WANTED to stand? Then they WOULD be called "sits." As soon as that person on the bottom row at the end does it, everyone else has to follow. Someone just keep THAT person down!

Re: Drunks In The Stands
Am I the only one who noticed the exteme amount of annoying drunk people in Houston on Sunday?? It finally got to the point where I was disgusted with it and got up and left after the semi's. By far the worst I have ever seen it. I think I may be done with taking that trip down one weekend a year. Sorry for the gripe just wondering if anyone else noticed?

Re: Drunks In The Stands
Mike, I noticed this year there were far more intoxicated fans but I think the reason was b/c of the rain and people had nothing better to do than drink. Especially Saturday since there was no racing at all. Matter of fact, my wife and I overheard a guy yesterday as we walked by say that on Saturday he spent $100 on beer alone. I dont drink and I never saw what they were charging for beer this weekend but I bet it was atleast $5. So at the most thats 20 beers and if its $6 it would be 16 or at $7 it would be 14 beers. So either way, you could bet he was one of the intoxicated ones. In the years past I havent noticed but maybe one or two so I think it was just b/c of the weather.

Re: Drunks In The Stands
I agree....I think it was because of the rain delay. BTW....both Friday and Sunday I sat in both Gen Admission and Reserved. The drunks were waaaaaaayyyyyyy worse in General Admission. I mean LIGHT YEARS worse!
Oh, beers were $6 each.

Re: Drunks In The Stands
Hey Kelly, my son and I saw you over at Ron's pit, but I couldnt get your attention from "the other side of the fence" . I missed the mater meeting Sunday morning due to traffic...even from the "secret back entrance" to the track. We got to the pits just before the "heavy rain" came down and we took cover in JR Todd's pit area.
