Lions Dragstrip, Google Earth

I was reading Don Gillespie`s story about Lions http://www.competitionplus.com/03_25...ions_roar.html
and was amazed at some of the stories he tells. I only wish I could have witnessed some of the wild events that track hosted.
With my interest spurred, I decided to try and find the Lions site on Google Earth. This is what I "guessed" at by Don`s article http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthrea...rue#Post522615
click "open this placemark" (you have to have Google Earth program installed) You can also view my "placemark" capture here http://www.faatso.org/lions.jpg
I`d be great if someone familar with the former layout of the track could pinpoint where the exact locations were. (i.e. where the starting line was, timing tower, pits, etc.) Maybe save the jpg and use photoshop or something to "pencil in" the landmarks and repost. Thanks.
BTW, Does any have any info when Dons documetary video for Lions will be out?

Looks about right. Notice in the photo on CP how close the left side stands were. That was the most awsome place to sit when fuelers and the gas coupes ran. Can't imagine sitting that close watching todays cars.

I literely lived down there. Saw everyone who was anybody back then, race there.

There was a guy who was a pilot who was on this board year5s ago that flew over and photographed Lions, OCIR, Irwindale and San Fernando, then highlighted where the tracks were in the photos.

I downloaded them, but can't remember which computer they would be on.

Jay, I'd swear if you sat in the front row of spectator sets on the parking side you looked right down the injectors of the junior fuel cars. I'd swear you could see the butterflies open and close after the turn around. BTW, I've been hoping to see the finished product on that video for about 3 years now. Don't look for a date on that story. It's so old it will scare you...whenever it happens I'll be in line for a copy. I grew up at that place and no other track had been as much like home as 'The Beach'.
