Didn't you watch the 1320TV interview with Kloeber??
He said that it was Garlits idea and alls they/he did was modernize and update his design... But make no mistake about it... It is Kloebers design...

Some of you sound like the Monostrut is such a performance advantage that if I have one and you don't, then you have no chance to win. The numbers from Phoenix would seem to indicate that's not true.

Also, many teams have tested many things that were not approved. This wing was not approved and Powers team decided to test it and then ask for approval. That's how it works.

I personally don't believe at this early stage of development that there is a performance advantage with the monostrut design, particularly since it adds a pretty hefty chunk of weight off the back of the car. But I do feel it is a significant safety advantage over what is being run at this time.

Q: What are your thoughts on the monostrut wing?

Fuller: It makes things exciting. You can engineer things, but you really don't know how it reacts until it hits the track. You have to be on top of things. I always wanted to be a fighter pilot growing up, and to have the opportunity to do something for the first time is really cool. One of my favorite movies when I was a kid was The Right Stuff. It was about test pilots and astronauts in the '60s and '70s. That's what I felt like. When I made the first pass, the team was so excited. I feel like we're going to advance and better the sport. It's been run before, but this is the latest version of it, and I think it will make the sport safer. I'm excited about the monostrut.
