Re: Ashely Force to race Funny Car in 2007
Yes indeed this was quite a surprise announcement - I didn't see this one coming at all...
But seriously, I wish Ashley luck and hope she has an enjoyable 1st season in FC. Of course, I'm hoping that Capps knocks off ALL the JFR cars - nothing personal but I've gotta cheer for the underdog. I think it's great that she'll be in FC this year. I was hoping she would go since I'm never sure if I'll be able to make it to Seattle EVERY year so now I'll be able to see her in FC live and in person without worrying about possibly missing her. It'll be a great year!

Historicaly, I'm not a huge JFR fan; but I believe her running it through the lights for that 1st session at Pomona is a very significant event for our sport. She's not the first to do it; and won't be the last. But I sincerely wish them well.
I would assume Shirley Muldowney, Bunny Burkett, Cristen Powell, Vicky Fanning and Della Woods all wish her well.

Wow, this is already getting big exposure..
I got home from work, signed on to AOL, and the first thing that pops up on the welcome screen is a picture of Ashley, and the main aritcle "Legend, Daughter to race eachother."
Pretty cool.

My apologies about the article not being posted yet to anyone who wanted to read it! I guess my old buddy TJ fell asleep at the keyboard down there!! But seriously he's been putting in some long hours working on a new design for the site that he's hoping to debut on Monday. Were both putting this stuff together in our spare time so we appreciate the support.
Thanks to everyone!

Not sure what youre gettin at here Tony?? If youre referring to the fact that she chose the A/Fuel car over the Funny Car then I hear ya. I think an arguement could be made either way on that one for sure. My dad and I went back and forth on that topic for quite some time. However that is how Ashley justified it when I asked that question of her during the teleconference.
Hope that clears things up a little bit for ya?
And for everyone else the article is now up...I love feedback on this stuff too because I am very new to the writing game. And dont be afraid to hurt my feelings because I believe all feedback is good feedback if you take it constructively and use it to make you better at what youre doing.
Thanks again to everyone for their support of the site!

Re: Ashely Force to race Funny Car in 2007
Man Jory, you type all that in 2 minutes!
I like what Gary Scelzi said about what it takes to drive a TAFC or BAD and how it translates into nitro cars. The interview was the one after Rod Fuller was spouting off about alky racing.
I think the Darien & Meadows ride became available and Force couldn't pass it up. Nothing more, nothing less. All this stuff about putting it on the high side and having holes out, making her more prepared for a AA/FC is just spin.
Lets not forget at one time Force was thinking about running a top fuel dragster.
Also, Scelzi and Wilkerson's kid seem to possibly have routes to AA/FC, lets see if any of those routes involve A/Fuel dragsters.
I want to write more on this, but I gotta go to work.

Hey who knew paying attention in my grade 9 typing class would pay off??
And as I said I cant make a decision either way on this statement? My dad who drove alky funny cars very successfully for 10 years before making the move to fuel funny was very successful in that move and caught on quickly to the routine in the fuel car. I somewhat lean towards the funny car as a better stepping stone because you are already in the same environment and have felt the way a car with that wheelbase reacts. And you have been under the body getting a feel for what you can see out of it and I imagine night driving with a body over top of you is quite different from a funny car to a dragster.
However I know Ashley is going to do well in the funny car regardless of how she came through the ranks. Should make for some entertaining television with the driving force show.
