Dumb question How "approachable" are the drivers in that setting? Are they swamped with requests for autographs and pictures?

i've never seen anyone bother the drivers at the ale house. you'd have to be a major league geek to bother them there when you can ask em all day in the pits..

LOL, when I was at E-town in '03 we went to stuf-yur-face (remember them?) and waiting for a seat besides us was Clay Millican. He chatted with us for 15 minutes or so.

But yeah, I wouldn't ask them for autographs or anything. I would just say Hi or something, or "nice run" or something like that.

Most of the racing people there are pretty easy going. How you approach anyone makes a huge difference on the reaction you'll get.

The wife and I will be there Friday through Sunday. We are taking a couple of friends who have been to a couple of bracket races but never a national event. I will have the camera focused on them when the first fuel car is warmed up on Friday. Should be fun. Love that track and town.

Killer pizza

There is a killer pizza place in Gainesville called Satchel's (http://www.satchelspizza.com/). It is notable to most Gainesvillians. Their advertising campaign is that they "Pay a Living Wage" (their pies aren't cheap though) and they have a bar/weird stuff museum out back. Their tables out front include an old abandoned VW bus. Sounds crazy but the pizza is great.

Also, there is a great Italian joint off of 75 and Newberry called Napolitano's Caution: they do have Karaoke on Sunday nights but the food is good and the service is AWESOME. Say hi to Lindsay for me.

Tony, the link to Satchel's Pizza did not work for me. They may have their site down for maintenance. Anyway, what part of town is it located in? There isn't much of anything near the track I can guarantee you that. The Ale House and restaurants near it which are off the Archer Rd. exit on I-75 are a good 15-20 miles from the track, but most of the hotels/motels are located off that exit and the exits before and after that.

Location of Satchel's Pizza

Tony, not sure why the link you published didn't work for me, but this link will: Welcome to Satchel's Pizza . I Googled it and it brought the site right up. And, then I did a MapQuest on it, and turns out it is not far from the track, maybe 5-6 miles. It's just off Waldo Rd. on 23rd Ave. which looks to be about a mile from the intersection of 39th Ave & Waldo Rd. which is the intersection closest to the Gainsville Airport. Just might have to check this place out. Samuel, you might get your pizza fix after all.

i stayed at the gainsville hilton in october when i went to frank hawleys school there, the hilton if you can get a room is awesome, its right off archer road on 34th street, archer road defiantly has everything and 10-15 min away from the track.

One word of advice, however - get there early. Since there's only one main road into the track, things can back up if you try to sleep in.

If you can find somebody who knows "the back way in," use it on Saturday and Sunday - it's longer, but quicker.

Yes sir....the one near the airport. There was 3 in Gainsville. The one by the airport, th eon on 13th and one on Archer out by I-75.
Do you remember back in the late 70's KB had one of his Chelsa Strret Pubs in the Gainesville Mall?

I lived up the road from you in Brandon from 72 to 95. We have probably seen each other...maybe even raced against each other at Bradenton, Sunshine, Lakeland, Twin City, Tampa Dragway, or even Orlando.
