I agree with Mike Minick. I have yet to see the SCHUMACHER ELECTRIC top feuler. I am just saying. Evan puts HIS money where his mouth is and Don puts the Army's money where his mouth is.

You know the old joke about the sure fire way to make a small fortune from auto racing, Right? Start with a Big Fortune.
Longevity requires husbanding your resources and running your team(s) like a business. Sometimes in doing that, some people feel you're being harsh or cruel. It's how you survive in this game.
Kudos to Evan and all he's doing, but lets revisit this subject in a year or so. Then we will see how much "involvement" EK is truly comfortable with. It's a Tortoise/Hare thing, a marathon not a sprint.

And what is wrong with this? You don't know what Don's business structure looks like and how much advertising $$ he can spend where it still provides an adequate return. I can tell you this much, there is a ton of money being made in the oil industry. Let me ask you a question, would you spend your own money or spend someone else's money on a race car if you put their name on the side of your car?

With some people Don just can't win. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
If he rolled out a car sponsored by the pope, people would still complain.

I'll bet that Shoe invests more of his money than people think. I suspect that given the biz that Evan is in, he may be in need of more "deductions", while Shoe treats the race operation as a business looking to turn a priofit. That's their business, the bottom line is both guys bring a lot to the table, I don't see any reason to compare who is spending more of his own money. I myself just wish continued success for both Evan and Shoe so that they can be out there a long time!

WTG Evan for jumping up to sponsor Clay for (hopefully) a full-season charge at the NHRA championship. I'm also hoping he can run as many non-competing IHRA races as possible too. After 6 in a row he has nothing left to prove in IHRA so it's time to give the other side a serious try.
And as for me, I have nothing at all against Don Schumacher either - I applaud ANYONE who's willing to put their money/effort into funding more teams. Of course DSR has made some unpopular decisions (i.e. dropping Baze, the whole Pro Stock saga), but so has every other team out there. Like it or not, this sport has become a big business and if the money's not there, it's difficult to continue.
So congrats Evan and Clay - good luck!

Not to be a stick in the mud, but is there any other source that'll corroborate this info?

No one will turn on Evan Knoll because he also sponsors races too! Now if I could just get Evan Knoll to help sponsor my nephews S/C-Q/R Dragster (hint hint)!
We certantly enjoyed having Evan Knoll at out home track, San Antonio Raceway for the 1st IHRA national event of the year.

It'll be interesting to see how many of these sponsorships are around in say 2 years. Who isn't Knoll/Torco sponsoring these days in the Pro Ranks. How long can it go on? I say 2 years tops.

Jason, I have a diecast of Tony's pink Exide car from the championship season of 99 and there is a big Schumacher Electric sticker on it. He didn't build these teams without sacrafice. God forbid someone makes an additional living on drag racing instead of spending all of their hard earned cash.

I am leaving Phoenix on Wednesday going to Gainesville for Thursday runs, I understand that Clay will be testing new items and may only make 1/2 track passes Thursday, he will return Saturday and Sunday for more runs
