Del Worsham= Kid
If my memory serves me correctly, the first thing that Del ever drove was a nitro funny car. I seem to remember him being only 16. Anyone else remember? |

Jerry Bickel
Would you mind if I submitted a chassis builder?
Jerry Bickel - Service Manager at Troy (MO) Motors...a Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Cadillac dealership. Jerry was in his early 20's and running the entire shop. My dad bought those big 70's Caddy's from that dealership, and Jerry was already a star. As a side note, I bought a new '78 Trans Am 4-speed car there and wore it out on the streets and at the old St. Louis International Raceway. Jerry was an awesome guy and really took care of me...as did that never ending (!) Pontiac warrenty! Jerry's always been a super star...now it's on the national stage! Way ta' go Jerry!!!

Don Prudhomme - car painter
Warren Johnson - mechanic Tommy Ivo - actor Bob Muravez (Floyd Lippencotte Jr.) - appliance repair (still is) Don Garlits - mechanic Chris Karamasines - shop owner Kenny Bernstein - (before wrecker/restaurant) sold clothes at Dad's store There's lots more out there but the memory is playing tricks. One interesting thing to note...practically all of the named superstars (both here and in previous posts)...got to the top without a lot of startup money. Kinda belies the old adage that you have to be rich to start with. Sure does help tho!!! Happy Thanksgiving all. MaC |
