How was that Dakin crash? I remember going to the rainout on Sunday but missing Monday. Was he okay? That sure looked like a bad one.

I'm in a Super 8 with cheapo dialup, so I couldn't watch any more than the opening couple of seconds for now. The pro stock launch slomo is extremely interesting, though. I knew the tires slipped off the line, but it's interesting to watch how they tighten up, changing shape and size, and how both then appear to snap loose at the same moment. Looks like there's enough variables going on that gains could still be found.

Everyone, including Frank Hawley, says that tire shake happens when the tires hook up too soon. I still think that it would be because one tire is too far "behind" the other when they do hook up, that they need to slip and give themselves a chance to even out more before they hook. I'll bet that when you're watching those tires hook and then snap loose, you're basically watching one "cycle" of tire shake, except that it's both tires there, so there's no "shake." I'll bet that tire shake might be each tire taking turns doing what you're seeing both tires doing in that clip. One snaps loose, so now the other one is the "tight" one.

Pat Dakin got banged up pretty good in that crash. I forget what his injuries were, but he is all better now.

Dakins crash

Pat got dinged up pretty good.Something came into the back of the cage and smacked him in the head. The biggest thing was it crushed both hands and he went through a couple of surgeries. According to Dakin he had to almost completely re-do what the KC surgeons messed up, and go to a specialist. He had some pins and things for a while. What had him the most pissed off was it screwed up his golf game for quite some time.
Hes back to his own smart ass self now and was considering a return with another team as the second car in IHRA. But that fell through. just some input. Hi Tony S. how ya doin?............Rad

Not to bad. I just got into the hotel out here in Rockingham...fireballed our **** pretty good tonite, but we got in the show. The thing was mess when we got it back to the pits. Looks like #6 exhaust keeper decided to leave us.
Pressure was so bad, it blew the right side valve cover off. Tomorrow's another day.
