PP called it a 1000 foot wheelie but im thinking it landed at the 1/8 mile cones.

That was unreal, pretty important to get that machine staged correctly I'd say.

Re: Anyone else see.....

You know it must be impressive for the sportsman guys to get any coverage on the "big show".

Re: Anyone else see.....

MY vote is for more sportsman coverage during the shows. Not in depth - just highlights and interesting stuff. Especially in lieu of contrived non-racing story lines.

I remember back in 86-88 or so, when Eddie Hilll ran "The Texan" on his on dime, getting back into TF. First Round at Englishtown, he lifted the front wheels a couple of feet after the 1/8 mile, I think racing Dick Lahaie. You could clearly hear Eddie working the throttle with his front wheels in the air, as he was still racing, wheelie be damned! Now that is nerves of steel! Eddie lost and bent his car, but he didn't quit racing!

I've read Dale Pulde, talking about his long career, was in a F/C with the wheels up and said to himself, well, the wheels are up but its going straight, so DON'T LIFT! Another awesome driver.

I wonder if Reichert was using the brake at all? Garlits says that's a good way to cure a wheelstand. My guess would be yes, and if he didn't, that spectacular run would have been a blowover. A pure guess on my part.

I did NOT see it... What round was it? There's no mention of it in the DRC coverage and Reichert ran no slower than 5.35 all day, so the wheelie didn't slow him down any.
