Re: Motorcycle ques.
I believe you need to be 16, check the back page of the license application form: http://www.nhra.com/contacts/forms/licenseapp.pdf. It spells out all the essential rules.

Re: Motorcycle ques.
Well i ask because on a local message board,a guy is saying it's legal for a kid under 16 to race a full size bike at an NHRA sanctioned track. I figured someone on here would know, anyone?
Here's the quote from him: "Are you really this ignorant? What is the legal age to drag race? Do you even know? There ARE 14 year old kids running 9's in the 1/4 on bikes. And it's legal on NHRA sactioned tracks." |

Re: Motorcycle ques.
That video of that 14 year old kid running 8.50 on the busa has been all over the internet. I can't believe NHRA hasn't taken notice.
Thing is, if they can't run on the track, they will run in the street. The country needs community drag strips that are out of NHRAs grasp, to help with the streeet racing. |

Re: Motorcycle ques.
Sure can. Many states will allow learners permits at 14 years, licensing to follow drivers ed. Some states will allow a hardship provisional license by the age of 12 or 13. Did you know that in some states once a kid has taken drivers ed and goes to get a license that they don't have to take a practical exam? They just answer the questions and viola` you have a license. Scary stuff when you consider that some drivers ed classes have less than a week of actual driving included.

Re: Motorcycle ques.
Many street racers don't have a licenses. It is not a requirement for street racing.

Re: Motorcycle ques.
Or racing a busa on an nhra sanctioned track.
Just to relate sorta,i remember back in 1995,i was racing jr. dragsters. We we're at us 19 dragway in albany, georgia racing a big event. They had these new jr. funny cars there, which were illegal at the time. I think they made one pass, somehow, nhra found out and called threatning to shut the event and track down. My point is,nhra cared about some 11 sec. 1/8th mile car,but did'nt seem to notice a 14 yr. old screamin down their track on a busa? |

Re: Motorcycle ques.
Some states have minimum ages of 17 or 18 years of age to race in competition which would over ride any sanctioning body or track policy.

Re: Motorcycle ques.
Ok,so why is Beech Bend letting a twelve yr. old race a full size motorcycle?

Re: Motorcycle ques.
It looks like the track operator is letting him make a pass. He is not competing in a sanctioned event obviously as there are no spectators or competitors present.

Re: Motorcycle ques.
So is it out of nhra's hands if it is not an nhra sanctioned event, but still an nhra member track?
