However,
When I read your post, the image of KJ riding down the return road after a loss to Warren back in the 90s with a big sign stating "At least I still have my job" popped into my head, and would appear to cast some doubt on your above statement.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Johnsons, they are my favorite P/S team, and they are great for the sport - but I wouldn't say he would NEVER throw a race.
Cast what you want, that was then this is NOW!!!.......Um,wasnt the point system different back then..oh DAM!!! i think it was!

You beat me to it Brian. I remember when that happened.

And I would expect them to do the same later this year if KJ was to face WJ at some point in the chase, WJ would take one for the team.

Re: Pro Stock Final

Just wondering, why would Justin say, "No team orders" prior to the final???? Is he considered part of the Johnson team just because he has one of their motors? Can't figure that one out.

But I don't think Kurt took a dive. Too much is one the line.

Little known fact: The starter motor on Kurt's car was a rebuilt from Checker Shucks Kragen auto parts. Del gave it to him. Has a 1 year warranty.

I'll bet they put a new starter for every race throughout the Countdown.

You should have heard the buzz because that was an awsome run considering the conditions. It's a shame WJ didn't make the Countdown but he didn't and the games will continue. Another interesting rd 1 race will be between Justin Humphreys (aka Justin Johnson) and the third KB Racing car driven by Rob Mansfield. I think JJ will be a player for the rest of the season with WJ power. GOOD LUCK to WJ/KJ & JJ.
Excellent call there, Mike....

Almost as good as the year I think it was Paul Rogers had a contest for who could pick the P/S #1 qualifing time @ Indy. I nailed it perfect.

Here's someone who got it. Yeah. I'm saying JH's car was probably set up to rattle the tires off the line. If I were JH I wouldn't need team orders. You don't bite the hand that's feeding you. Did you notice WJ has not leased any motors in a long time? This was an exclusive deal to get KJ his well deserved championship. Folks drag racing is a business. AC Delco and WJ Enterprises badly need Kurt to win this countdown. I don't see anything wrong with tilting the scales in favor of your sponsor. NHRA doesn't like diving, but it's almost impossible to prove.I just found it ironic that Kurt had a 99.9% chance of winning that event and something simple as a starter kept him from it. He deserved to win the event and hopefully will win the 2008 PS title. The Zapruder film confirms my theory.

After further reading,I get you drift, sorry. I don't think KJ winning the Championship will affect AC Delco remaining on board or not. I think with the Big 3 standing on Capitol Hill with their hands out is going to determine how much they stay involved. The WJ/JJ connection probably was going to become a reality next year but with the third KB/Summit car joining the tour @ Indy,it probably expedited JJ getting it this year. If that's the case,JJ did his job and really helped KJ out. I'll tell you this, after yesterday,I'm liking KJ's chances but I hope he doesn't lose it by less than 20 points, that would be cruel. There's NOBODY deserves a Championship more than KJ and I for one hope he gets it this year. As far as JJ diving,if they do race and it's not a very close race,it will be called a dive,so why worry about it.Let the games continue.
