is rollout a standard dimension at NHRA tracks?

On the NHRA Race Day show this morning, Gary Gerrold interviewed Matt Smith and asked him what his biggest concern was. Matt said his biggest concern were redlights and that "the rollout seems a little shorter than normal".

ITS SUPPOSED TO BE you can see them checking it with a (looks like a front dragster wheel) at the start line before the event starts..

The rollout should be standard at all tracks. The NHRA has a measuring device that you see them use to check the rollout over the race weekend.

I am sure though that going by the staging techniques and bike/clutch setup and the number of runs that these guys make they can tell when something is slightly different than normal.

It's a standard distance, however it can change based off the crown in the track. Not by Inches, but very slightly. The PSBikes tend to stage in different parts of the track, sometimes on the left of the groove, sometimes on the right. Where a car stages with two front tires on both sides of the groove the "ROLL OUT" is not as much of an issue. But, the bikes can see a difference in the roll out a bit more.

Standard distance is 7 inches, give or take a little.

If that track was as heavy as everyone was saying, then I could understand all the PSB Redlights! A 600lb bike is going to react much faster than any car would, and if you got a track surface that's like sand paper, well......
