Re: Charlotte Mater meetings?

There were a lot of people there Friday, but the seats were not full. There are a whole bunch of seats. The evening runs were great, cars performed well, weather was good, track was awesome.

Saturday was packed in every sense of the word. People everywhere. I got hung up and missed the mater meeting, watched most of the first round qualifying from the stands, then was in meetings the rest of the day, finishing off with a roasted pig dinner at our motor home compound provided by Glen Hardy of Ole Country Smokehouse. Didn't leave the track until after 10:00 pm.

It was great to see and talk to all those that I did get a chance to meet. I wasn't happy about missing the meeting and seeing more, especially every one wearing pink T-shirts.

As always at this time of season, there is a lot of talk about plans for the future of the sport and it's participants. It is always interesting to see what actually takes place when the new season comes around.

Must say again, the facilities are awesome.

Re: Charlotte Mater meetings?

We had a small but fun group for our 10:30 meeting. Pictures to follow, especially one for Joe. Sorry to Uncle Zappy for my mysterious departure. I was so sunburned (I even have blisters!) and ended up being so heat stroked that i almost didn't make it back to my car. I went down to the concessions area to get something to eat and suddenly I realized how awful I felt. The weather was brutal! I had to sit in my car for 30 minutes with the a/c running before the nausea stopped.
From what I saw of the racing, it is a great track and the facility really is incredible. Very, very clean and lots of conveniences.
And it was great seeing Jack Beckman. Glad he got the luck I sent him today!

Hi Joelle,

Great to meet you this morning, really hate that you got overheated. It was pretty hot out there. If I had known, you could have hung out in the travel trailer with us. We had the AC going all weekend. Made it pretty nice since we were only 5 minutes from grandstand seats to trailer. Take care, get rehydrated.

Murdock.

What a nice offer! Unfortunately, I had the disadvantage of having no one's phone number. And the other disadvantage of parking in the free parking lot, which was waaaaay too far away to walk in that heat. I thought I was going to have to hang out at the NASCAR tshirt trailers before venturing out to my car.
And Joe, it's not the heat, it's definitely the humidity!!! Even after living here two summers now, there are some things I can't get used to.

I've been living here for 50 summers and I haven't gotten used to it yet.

Joelle, so sorry to hear of your misfortune Sunday. It sure was hot. I'm so glad you recovered well. I'll post a link to pics soon, but not tonight. I'm gonna sleep for a week first.
