Anyway I agree I like having John there. I didn't watch the entire telecast( they hit my countdown overload meter) but I like how he does things. Was Gary not there this weekend?

They said Gary was missing the telecast because he was on vacation. I like Gary G, but do tire of his questioning technique, and John is always a breath of fresh air when we get to see him!

It was good to see John back on the telecast this weekend. Hopefully ESPN will bring him on full time in 2009!

i did miss g. gerould - the nationals coverage should be great.

From a pure broadcasting perspective he's rock solid. Very conversational and calm. He's the best pure reporter we've ever had on NHRA telecasts...and that includes the Diamond P years, which were the high water mark. ESPN's current package is better than the available technology from the 80's, but ESPN's reporters (with the exception of John) are entry level. Page is well...Page. I love Mike Dunn, but we all know he'd rather be racing. The Diamond P years had the most talent behind the microphones.

Let's hope they keep John full time.
