I don't know about that Mel. I've spent an hour searching and can't find any info about it. I included ESPN in my search. NADA.

There is no speculation, Doug stated on national tv that Wayne took the computer and info when he left, it came from the owners mouth so I would'nt call it speculation!!!!

In my business if I don't sign a Proprietary Agreement anything I develop is mine as well as the clients. If hardware was stolen that would be another matter. It just seems funny I can't find any info.

For his sake, I hope he or someone he knows SAW that happen if he's saying it on national TV, then. Dittos again on depending on what kind of agreement they had, if any.

I remember that he did say something like "He could have left us a baseline tuneup." I still want to know what kind of tuner needs a previous tuner's "baseline" (which I still believe is a broad term) in order to do anything.

I thought it was kind of strange also that Brisette would need a baseline, I suppose they just needed something with the same weather conditions to get started instaed of wasting good parts!!

From Larry - "Whether or not the intellectual property belongs to the intellectual or to his employer depends on the employment contract - verbal or written."
Theoretically true, but lawyers bcome involved in issues like this and the litigant who has the deepest pockets usually wins. Of course, we are speculating that the "stollen" item is information.
I find it hard to believe that Doug would attempt to prosecute Wayne over the alleged theft of a notebook or laptop computer. Something else is going on here.
I'll bet 'ya that a lot of Pro team owners are closely watching this mess . . . along with their attorneys. It is interesting that no one can find any information on this and that there was been no mention of it on DRO or CompetitionPlus.

Your right Jim who knows what went on after the alleged info missing incident, I dont think Wayne is right!! he seems kind of strange since his accident there may have been more damage than everybody thought!!

I don't know Wayne personally but I'll stand behind Herbert, knowing the measure of the man. I've seen his thankless service to Billy Williams, Dianne and Billy's family even now, years after the saddest of news. I also saw, and read in his blogs, his unfailing support of Wayne after his accident and his patience with his return-then his acceptance of his early return despite possible questions of Wayne's full recovery. I consider these to define Doug's character well enough for me to stand behind him in such a litigation. He's definately not the type person who would kick a man while he's down for personal pleasure although the opposite may be true. Maybe a few more of you need to meet him personally before questioning further and, as Jackee so clearly suggested, we all shouldn't speculate on something beyond the facts in such a sensitive matter?
Just my opinion again?

I just hope everything gets settled without undo harm to anyone. Wayne used to race at my home track and had a very good reputation and many friends.
Doug has done some stellar things for racing too. He also has a good reputation except in the Millican camp. LOL

I know I'm going to sound gruff here...

From the first "Dougzilla" car, I always preceived Herbert as being this egotistical jerk who thought his temper tantrum in Reading was some kind of "folk hero thing" to build off of and re-invent his image. The Dougzilla car always made me think "why", are you that much of a jerk that you can't see it?
Did he think he was cool, or did his crew brown nose him to the point where he thought the public would think he was cool? I don't know, but the Dougzilla thing doesn't work for me..

But after the Dupuy Accident, I don't know how much more a man could do for Wayne and his family. He was at the hospital, and I'm sure he was going to do whatever he could to make the Dupuy's life more stable during those hard weeks. That says volumes about his heart and what kind of man he is inside.
I guess we'll find out the true story in the coming months.

Either way, Dupuy/Herbert have successfully scared themselves for life.
Wayne for having his character questioned, and Herbert for running his business in a fashion that something like this could even happen.

As far as a new crew chief needing a baseline...

If you come into a team on that short of notice, presumably using all of their existing equipment, the baseline for that setup is probably going to be different from what you have. He came into a situation where they had blowers, clutch, etc that were all setup the way the Wayne Dupuy ran them.

If you don't know if it's 'one or the other', it is speculation. Period.
When Herbert and/or Dupuy want the specifics known, I'm sure they'll speak out on the issue.

If he ran off with the laptop, and it wasn't his, then that's theft. If he just burned a copy of the run data on CD then unless specified otherwise, he's probably entitled to that information. If he took the data and then deleted the information from the laptop, then that is also considered a criminal act. My company probably gets 15 or 20 jobs a month where a disgruntled employee decided to delete company records, and then we go in and recover the information. It sucks for the people involved, but it is pretty common in this day.
