Scotty Cannon coming back?
Per Comp Plus Rumor section:
"...Could a former nitro racer with a quite different hairdo be considered a serious candidate for one of the top name nitro seats expected to open up at the end of the 2008 season?"

I thought the same thing initially, but Gary commented earlier this week that he has indicated to Don he wants to stay on through the end of 2009 when the Mopar contract is up for renewal.

I'd prefer to see Skuza back on tour, but that's just me!

Re: Scotty Cannon coming back?
I can't think of any "top name" seats that are coming available at the end of the year, and there is NO ONE that would rather see Scotty in a competitive seat than me.
Let's go down the list in F/C : Wilkerson's seat is safe, Force's seats are safe, the Pedregon's seats are safe, DSR's seats are safe, pretty sure Worsham is OK, I think Troxel is safe as long as the team runs, Bartone is safe, TJ is not the problem in the Monster pits so he should be safe, Densham is safe as long as he has funding and Tasca is safe. The ONLY possibility I can see is that Jim Head steps out of the seat and Scotty steps in.
Let's go down the list in Top Fuel: Schumacher's seat is safe, Bernstein is safe, Dixon is safe, the Kalitta cars are safe, the Powers cars are safe, Cory Mac is safe, Herbert is safe, Morgan Lucas is safe and JR Todd is probably OK, and Vandergriff is safe. I can't see anyone in the top 15 that could be replaced unless it is a way out of left field stunner.
The only thing I can think of is that the rumor did not specify IHRA or NHRA, so Scotty is probably going to give another crack at IHRA. Most everyone in IHRA is an owner/operator, so it would be tough for one of those top seats to come open.

Although that would be cool and diffidently add some color. I can't see those 2 working well together. They both do/did turn there won cars. I could see lots of conflicts as far as the rune-up.
But that would be cool.

Re: Scotty Cannon coming back?
What if the new seat is just another car coming back out after a year away. CSK car #2?
