If you are to believe DRO ... the CSK deal is in trouble after their takeover by O'Reilly.
Karl, I never thought of Scotty as a potential teammate to Melanie ... I just assumed whenever the second car was out ... Hawley would be in the seat. That would be a cool deal.
In any event .... we all need more Scotty Cannon in our lives and I am glad that he may be coming back.

Re: Scotty Cannon coming back?
I don't think they would go through bringing out the car again and then already have another driver lined up for next year before Jeff has even made a pass this year. It's Jeff job

Bruce,
The way I read it was that he was a fill in. But I reckon he's got a pretty good shot at being around next year. Mind you I did have thoughts of Doug stepping into the seat next year, but that is just my thought.
Regards,
Michael

Re: Scotty Cannon coming back?
Get your flamethrower ready and put the DSR moderators on alert but didn't Oakley have a lot of heartburn over certain incidents that seemed to reflect on their credibility earlier this season? I seem to recall some damage control being underway to preserve the sponsorship. Renewing a relationship with an old friend would be just what this Doctor ordered. There was something special about seeing Jim and Scotty in the same pit as they looked like they belonged together and both had a lively passion to win and compete. Man, wouldn't that be sweet in my opinion.

It is possible, Scelzi said earlier this week he has not heard anything about Oakley returning next year.

How about that deal, with AJ tuning?
If I am not mistaken, Jim sold Oakley to the company that owns Pearle, DOC, and several other optical franchises. I don't know how much influence he still has on what Oakley sponsor's. Hopefully they still take his advice.

It looks like the Arend deal is for the rest of '08. (kinda like a 90 day trial)
I'm sure if all goes well Jeff will get a multi-year contract.
As for me....I think Scotty should stick with PRO/MOD. He's the man over there.

O-O-O-O'Reilly would be best-served to pick up any remaining contract obligations that CSK has with the Worshams. Can you imagine the backlash against them if the nicest family in professional drag racing had to park due to a corporate buyout?

What a shame that would be if they didn't take every opportunity to keep the Worshams on board.

Re: Scotty Cannon coming back?
I would agree on Cannon coming back.. if ... i had not heard him talk about how much he hated the nitro cars and they were killing his back...
he had back trouble.. got it fixed ..got in a TF car and the back was right back to hurting....
And yeah its a matter of time before the Oakley deal is gone.... NHRA is realy corting the Wiley X company these days....notice the amount of coverage they have gotten since the sell of Oakley,, Wiley X was ignored to a certin point on tv broadcast to start on Jim Yates ride....
