Re: Nhra>class act

sounds like a racers' strike is the only potential cure to this price gouging by the suits.

Fridays night session at Indy. No real race day tune up data is gained plus they get 5 sessions anyway so sitting one doesn't hurt. Just announce it ahead of time so I don't waste my ticket price getting in

Re: Nhra>class act

That is F'ing insane. What could possibly be a good explanation from NHRA as to why they would turn that down?

Let's hear it from the NHRA brown nosers and employees.

I'm not surprise, if Graham Light took the offer then all the racers would know what he paid then he wouldn't be able to make enough profit to fill his pockets with money. I sure hope SMI buy these guys out, i want to hurl everytime i hear his name.

alright one issue could be legal contracts with the official distrubutorship. Not saying its right but that may be a concern

Re: Nhra>class act

PJ, you may be right, but if Wego is willing to make it available, couldn't something be worked out so VP could buy it from them so that they stay in the game? I'm not sure if this makes sense, as I'm a little confused about the whole nitro price/availability issue. I do know that during these tough times, and with fields suffering in the nitro ranks, NHRA needs to be exploring EVERY possible way to help the racers. If it turns out to be a greed issue vs. legal, then they need to park their cars.

That is how this problem started, VP had payment problems with their bill at Wego.
VP then tried to get Nitro from a different Chinese source that didn't work out.
Now they have to buy it on the spot market,or from brokers rather than from a manufacture.
The Olympics only helped make make VP problems bigger.

I think the Big Show car owners should only make one run each day, to "help" NHRA,& VP save Nitro.

Re: Nhra>class act

Couldn't Wego just offer this to VP without telling NHRA?

Re: Nhra>class act

just my opinion, but if i were one of nhra's last few independent nitro racers,
and there are a few rather well known ones; this mite be the proverbial
straw breaking the back - you keep gouging me and i keep coming back
for more (aka filling your fields and entertaining your crowds)
then i find out there's an offer to greatly reduce one of my
higher fixed expenses and you pass on it!

contracts, shmontracts........i don't buy this 'honor the contract b*llsh*t'
when money doesn't flow correctly, no piece of paper is going to bind two entities; healthy profits on the other hand will.

i guess i just don't get it, nor as a fan am i supposed to.

Bob K

Love the NR logo, guy!

Cole Coonce should be banished forever from polite nitro society for vaporizing it!

(To paraphrase a quote from Richard Clarke, the only person in U.S. government that ever apologized to the American people about 9/11)

To quote Funny Car Legend Frank Oglesby yet again: "NHRA would step over a dollar to pick up a dime!"

SMI ownership can't come soon enough. I hope the failed corporate purchase last year has shrunk the "fired NHRA EXEC golden parachute fund" down to less than an average person's yearly salary!

Re: Nhra>class act

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before but, what is to keep you from refilling "Official Legal" drums with product you might find elsewhere at a lower cost? Is there a chemical marker that the Fuel Check folks look for?
