NHRA News: Lucas hires tuner Jimmy Walsh for remainder of 2008 season (7/29/2008)

I was one of the people who thought this would happen. Hopefully Lucas will let this guy gel and not let him go a month later.

How many crew chiefs has he hired and fired? I don't follow the team but have noticed a few of the changes. Seems like quite a few...

So based on the Lucas track record with crewchiefs what are the odds that if he doesn't make the top ten Walsh doesn't have a job after Indy? Seems like a great waste of talent for Walsh to go with Lucas. Why doesn't Morgan just go back to top alcohol dragster where he did very well?

Some of you are real hard on Morgan; let's give this situation a chance to work out before you say Jimmy will be gone in no time. I personally think this will work out and you will find Morgan in the winner's circle before the end of the year. Good luck to all involved!

Walsh proved with Torrance last weekend in Sonoma that he can still get a digger down the track.

The thing about crew chief changes is that they are very expensive. Every crew chief has his preference on parts/setup, and if it differs too much from the existing parts/setup it can get pricey quick. Is Morgan willing to let Walsh spend his money? Or is Walsh going to be tuning with his hands tied? That will be the ultimate determining factor of success for this team.

I wish nothing but luck to Morgan, Walsh, Stewart, Forrest, Charlotte and JR for the rest of this year. The Lucases are GREAT people for NHRA, and I hope their flagship gets some wins soon as they are long overdue.
