I hate to say it but until an article this well written starts to appear in metropolitan papers in the big cities it still won’t mount to a hill of beans.

Very accurate and well written though thanks for the post Jackee.
I hope you are doing well!

But this is exactly how PR firms work. They seed any writer they can get to write good articles (like this one). Then they take the article to bigger and bigger writers and say "see, here's a great article, it's practically written for you, all you have to do is put your own spin on it". They get another one and another and work up the chain. Pretty soon you see the biggest papers and magazines in the country doing them.

This is precisely what good PR firms do for a living. It's also why you see the same "story" appear over and over again on the various TV networks, the papers, and the magazines. The number of people doing real original reporting is constantly getting smaller, and the number of outlets merely echoing others is going up all the time.

Let's hope NHRA's new firm can work this same effect to our advantage.

I know. That's why I sent the link to several editors.... just so they know what I'm talking about when I complain about the articles they run in THEIR papers! HA! Can't hurt.

I'm doing ok, thanks, Bob. Over a week behind with my physical therapy because of an excrutiating 'referred' pain, caused by the surgery. I could hardly move. But thank goodness for drugs! I'mback on track, but a little behind.

Better to be a little behind than a big behind!

Well, ironically the pain.... was in..... my butt. Felt like a pinched nerve smack in the center of the right butt. I had my right hip replaced.... never thought I'd have more pain after surgery! The pain was so bad I could hardly move, stand, walk, sit, go upstairs. Of course PT was suspended until I could walk again without crying. (I have an extremely high threshold for pain, since I've lived with it for so long. But this was the worst pain I've ever had.)

Gives the phrase, "Pain in my butt" a whole new meaning! Now I know what one really is! ha!

I think the really big media push would come if or when we have 3 girls taking the trophy in TF, FC and PSB all on the same day. NHRA would be crazy not to jump all over that.

Totally spot on. Were it not for a good PR firm (and a little cajoling from my editor) I would not have reluctantly gone out to cover my first race at Pacific Raceways in 2004. At the time we were twice monthly but now we're twice weekly. Thanks to that first experience, I'll write about the NHRA forever as long as they let me.

And that was definitely a great piece. Shows insight into the sport most reporters who end up covering it lack because of the nature of the series moving from town to town. We only care about something when it's happening around "here."

Great find, Jackee. Thanks for sharing.

Jackee, hope they correct the source of the pain quickly and you are back to PT soon.

And thanks for finding the article, it was well written. I hope it is just the tip of the iceburg, both for women winning in general (I always root for the women, comes from having 3 daughters) and for Hillary in particular, she is one of the nicest people I have ever met.

It is a great story and much better to hear than the one with Muldowney's comments.

Nice article on Safety Safari member Robin Crosby at the link at the bottom of the page. A mainstream paper with real drag racing news!

Thanks Brett! That pain is under control, thanks to the new muscle relaxer, Skelaxin. The only thing that frustrates me is that getting it under control put me over a week behind with my PT. I was driving by this time when I had my first hip done.

Go Women of Drag Racing!
