Re: Nitro Restrictions

from the Competition Plus article:
Quote:
There is reportedly a bountiful supply in England, but this product reportedly belongs to Dow Chemical, who were are told, has forbidden the product to be sold in racing applications.
Drag Racing Internet Magazine - Torco Racing Fuel's Competition Plus.com - NO MORE NITRO TESTING ON MONDAYS

my guess is that Dow Chemical doesn't want to be dragged into any lawsuit that may arise from an incident resulting from a car using their nitro.

Re: Nitro Restrictions

A couple of questions:

1. If they cut down to 3 sessions, are they going to toss the qualifying rule of top 12 on Fri, fastest 4 on Sat?

2. Since Fri will only have one session, are they going to lower the ticket price? I doubt it.

I just dont understand why we cant come to somekind of resolution in all this. You would think NHRA would be willing to eat crow for the lifeblood of the sport for crying out loud.

Re: Nitro Restrictions

Hmmmmm...so the Don couldn't use his own nitro for testing on Monday??

Or sell it to teams that want to test?

They don't want an owner to be the offical supplier? Makes no sense to me.

Re: Nitro Restrictions

I don't really follow IHRA too much, other than to check results once in awhile. What are their restrictions on nitro purchasing?

Probably not at an NHRA sanctioned track.

Re: Nitro Restrictions

If NHRA were run like a real business, heads would roll on this. It's like having a bar and there is a shortage of beer. You had better beat the bushes for product way before you run out, otherwise you are out of business. The fuel cars are the attraction plain and simple. The noise and thunderous vibration is what people come to see, hear and smell. VP needs to go, they are bad business managers. I hope as do all drag racers that this shortage doesn't cause fuel drag racing to come to a halt. NHRA,VP SOMEBODY--IMPROVISE, THINK, ADAPT. I have heard about this supposed shipment coming from China.
Get AIA (Ass in Air) and go check it out for yourselves. Maybe (hopefully) they already have. The ban of any owners (DSR) being in the nitro business stinks. Sorry I had to vent but that is just my 2 cents.

It says it only applies to "NHRA national event facilities only". So that leaves all, but what, about 18 tracks in the country?

Re: Nitro Restrictions

How to run the NHRA
1. Take out Weiner
2. Step on it every chance you get
3. Collect as much money from fans as possible for the chance to watch
4. Repeat at every step

Its getting old, people and I am getting tired of our sport getting dragged down by a bunch of non-racers.

Absolutely! If this was a real business, several people at VP would be on the street, and the person at NHRA responsible for the VP relationship would be too. If it were in Japan, the CEO would be committing suicide right now. If there were any kind of broad base of NHRA shareholders, a shareholder revolt would be in full swing.

If nothing else convinced you that Glendora is fubar, this situation should.

Re: Nitro Restrictions

This is flat out embarrassing for the NHRA. They need to swallow their pride and work with Don and whoever else to ensure there is enough supply for the remainder of the year.

Re: Nitro Restrictions

Did anyone else notice this as well?

"One thing, we are told, is the price of nitromethane will face an increase because of the aforementioned situation."

So not only won't they swallow their pride, but make new rules that say owners can't control the nitro, and they are going to add insult to injury and line their pockets some more!

As much as I hate to say it, the teams need to stand up and say NO! and not run at all and IMHO, IHRA is one good TV deal away from passing by the NHRA, and if they can get it, the teams should say FU to the NHRA and walk over to IHRA and take back drag racing!

Re: Nitro Restrictions

this still doesn't stop people with fuel to test at indy during the week like they have in the past. don't they generally get together and rent the track since most are located there. doesn't sound like they solved anything other than they're shorting the fan.

Re: Nitro Restrictions

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I own a small business and if I ran my business and treated my customers the way NHRA does, I would be OUT OF BUSINESS as fast as an aborted Top Fuel pass!

Unbelievable the incompetency and politics that rule at NHRA.
