Norwalk Track

Just a question as to the timeline of Norwalks excavation of the "slight dip" they had in their track.

Was this the bump that was apparent at last years Summit race?

Was this repaired in the offseason and still gave them trouble early this year and then they deciding to go the extra mile to fix it right after the track opened this year?

How long did the repairs take once they started?

Just curious and anxious to see how the their track reponds for the Summit Nations in June. Here's hoping their hard work and dedication pays off for a great race!

Re: Norwalk Track

You can get a preview in less than two weeks - Division 3 will be racing there May 16-18. Good show, and ice cream for a buck. Can't beat that!

The most recent work finished on Friday, April 25.

From SREMP's website:

April 25, 2008

The track repair that was to have been completed early this morning was interrupted by an extended period of rain here at Summit Motorsports Park. The rain has ended and the track repair is being completed now. Unfortunately, it will not be done in time to run the regularly scheduled Test ‘N Tune program tonight. Therefore, we are forced to call of tonight’s session.

I believe it was a 3 day long process that started on Wednesday of that week.

They did run a points race there on Saturday, April 26.

The following Wednesday (April 30) was when Kalitta's crew came down and the Oberhoffer's said there was a bump at the transition between the launch pad and the asphalt to which Bill Sr. said "we'll fix it".

Nothing has run since, due to rainouts over the weekend.

So Wayne what you are saying the major excavation work was done prior to the O's being there and there was still a little bump at the transistion afterward?

I don't know if the bump at the transition is new, but it is definitely something that was there after 3 days worth of asphalt work was completed.

Norwalk reopened with a points event on Saturday after the work. The "O" brothers were there on the following Wednesday and mentioned feeling the transition bump while driving down the track in their Tundra truck. That information was posted the following day (last Thursday) in their blog that is posted on NHRA.com
