Re: How many people here Like Nascar?
I will watch any form of auto racing, love it all.
Drag Racing is my favorite though.

Re: How many people here Like Nascar?
I like it better than (almost any) stick and ball sports.
(OK, I LOVE UCONN Women's Basketball)
That said, I'd rather watch NASCAR on TV than go to the venue (been to New Hampshire a couple times). NASCAR is a long long afternoon and it's easy to lose focus.
That'll NEVER happen at a Drag Race!
PS: I hate to subscribe to conspiracy theories but, it seems somebody throws debris on the track for a LATE CAUTION FLAG ANY time somebody has more than a 5 second lead. Seems 'kinda contrived.

Re: How many people here Like Nascar?
I follow Nascar, but not as closely as drag racing. I usually attend at least 3 races a year and I do find it entertaining to watch both on TV and live.

Re: How many people here Like Nascar?
used to follow all motorsports a lot closer than i do now (including drag racing).
watch nascar ever now and then; grew up watching a group of racers that
are almost all retired from the sport, don't get as excited with the new, younger
group of racers; although for some reason i like to see carl edwards do well.

Like it, No. If it happens to be on when I am paying my bills I'll listen, but that's it. I did like it before the restrictor plates were implemented. It's just a half a step ahead of Ice Hockey for me. Oh wait, Hockey isn't a sport!

I find IRL races much more entertaining than NASCAR, but even so I'm not much of a fan of round-and-round-we-go races. I have more fun watching monster trucks or tractor pulls.
And Dan, I find Hockey and NASCAR very similar, in a way. Why? Much like much of NASCAR's "fans" just watch the races for the crashes, a good bit of hockey "fans" just watch to see who's going to get into a fist fight. Think I'm off-base? Last year, a mater said about the clean, crash-free race at Bristol: "Just a bunch of cars going around in circles." If there was a crash, I bet his comments would have been different.

Re: How many people here Like Nascar?
When Darrell Gwynn was injured and no longer drove, followed by my cousin's death (he worked for Darrell) the next year, I kinda lost some interest in Drag Racing. I still watched off and on but began to folow NASCAR too. By the mid-late 90s I was keeping up w/ both. The loss of Big E and the "rise of punks" in NASCAR put Drag Racing back on top for me.

ditto that for me !
about the first three quarters of the race does not interest me at all other than testing out my TV's HI Def settings. Nothing looks better in HI Def than a 43 car multi color train goin' 200mph

Sorry Jim,
I Love my ODU Ladies.
I watch F-1 sometimes and LaMans and any 6 hour plus sports car racing.
and local short track stuff. Don't do Winston Cup or IRL/Cart.

Re: How many people here Like Nascar?
Its not my bag, I know whats going on as the coverage is everywhere and there are guys at work that talk about it.
If I'm flipping channels and see its the last few laps I'll watch. But I'll watch the last couple of minutes of just about any sport.
I don't like knocking someone into the wall cuz you can't pass them and I hate all the draft stuff. Fastest car may not win because nobody follows them to give them a push.
it's great to put on if I need a nap

Re: How many people here Like Nascar?
In this part of the country, you have to deal with NASCAR on a daily basis. I went to countless NASCAR races from my early teens until Feb 18, 2001. I was at Daytona that day, and kind of lost my desire to go back. I thought that there was nothing like NASCAR until September of 1987, when I went to my first drag race, at the IHRA U S Open Nationals at Rockingham. After my first funny car pass (Mark Oswald vs Ed the Ace) I found out that NASCAR wasn't such a big deal. Been drifting further and further away from it ever since.

Re: How many people here Like Nascar?
I took my kids (that were raised w/drag racing) to the first 3 races when the track opened in my area. Okay, we are talking young boys (14 and 12) that would sooner drive anything than eat or breath. My oldest literally fell asleep after asking me multiple times if it was over yet (kind of like--are we there yet mom? on a long road trip). My other son found a good ant hill to mess with for 4 hrs and that kept him somewhat busy. He has always been the easier of the two!! Anyway, I gave it a shot LIVE cause that is what I was told would make it better than TV. Long story short, none of us liked it and I won't go back. I give my good (pro bono) tickets to those that love it. I can't stand it, and quite frankly probably like it LESS after going to a race. Just not my bag at all. However, it is good for the economy in our area. That part is about the only good comment I have about NASCAR.
