Re: Racers Robbed In Atlanta!
It's a damn shame that this thief got away, I would have loved to have seen what the racers would have done to him.
Thieving at the races has been going on for a long time, one of my first grunt jobs as a young lad in the early 60's was keeping an eye on the trailer when the car made runs. Thieving is not new, just surprised not much has been done in all these years.

Made us wake up real fast and now everything is put away and locked up. Truly a hassle but certainly better than losing your parts, tools, equipment or personal belongings. Certainly doesn't stop anyone from breaking into the trailer. We all need to look out for one another.

Donnie and Hollie are the best.

No, no you wouldn't. If you loaned it or gave permission for someone to use it, then yes you would be held at least particially responsible. But not if it's stolen from you.

Unless of course you were chasing them - then it would be your fault for chasing them and making them hit someone...
PS - I bet you could find an attorney that would sue you for leaving your cart so easily stolen...

Thieves do resist when captured. And the property owners have the right to protect themselves using the minimal force needed . I have no mercy for a thief. And I don't honor the, "I give up" phrase. But that's just me.
But it is a fact that criminals often do lose their balance when captured

Re: Racers Robbed In Atlanta!
Jenn, I am with you when it comes to racers not stealing from racers... However, I know a sportsman racer had his credit card stolen at Atlanta this year and over $2000 dollars was spent before they even knew it was gone... Wal-Mart was one store it was used at and they caught the person(s) on camera, and I heard it was another racer that was suspected to be the person on the video...

Re: Racers Robbed In Atlanta!
Three or four years ago I bought a pair of used Goodyears from the Richie Stevens camp. They were nice enough to let me use their golf car with the flatbed all painted up in Valspar to haul them out to where I was parked. The regular Bristol track workers who knew me gave me "What the hell is he doing?" looks as I drove by. The regular NHRA folks never gave a second look and the guard at the gate believed me when I told him what I was doing. How hard would it be for a thief?

He said "back by us" so it's obvious that they robbed him first and he was just rerobbing them. Sounded perfectly acceptable to me.

That wasn't too clear in the way it was worded, but I don't think that's what was meant...or at least I hope not.
