I was actually watching the end of the IRL race

and I just heard Marty doing a standard promo for the race. He just mentioned Ashley the same way Danica is mentioned when they promo IRL races...I didn't hear anything that indicated Ashley had already won the race

and the fact that the final round hadn't even taken place when Marty made the statement makes it hard for me to believe it was anything other than just a normal promo...

i really like marty, but he spoiled it for me ! he didn't have to say Ashley's name, just the comment "you wont wanna miss it" was the clue. To the seasoned drag racing fan, all it took was some deductive reasoning to figure out what he was talking about. his comment implied something special happened so what incident in Atlanta could make the IRL announcer say that ? -- something in pro stock ? i doubt that very much ! --- something in top fuel ? the only thing that coulda produced that statement in top fuel is perhaps a win by Hillary, but she lost 2nd round so that wasn't it. All the big name contenders in FC have already won a race, so the only thing left was either force winning his 500th or the biggest name in drag racing, Ashley F. getting her first win !! ...... just call me lieutenant Colombo

So that's what I figured had happened. Either way Marty ruined the show. You know seeing that that AT LEAST she's made the final. So every round you watch she's in , you know the outcome. It's just wrong. They need to remember - for us watching, it's live. It's new. We don't need any hints about what's going to happen, anymore than we'd get if it was live.

This entire controversy is entirely Ron Capps' fault. If he hadn't lit the hides in the semis none of this 'mater bickering would be going on. Next time you see him give him a good spanking. Just don't smile when you are administering the punishment. The old "this is going to hurt me more than it will hurt you" line just isn't believable when you're enjoying yourself too much.

Heheh....who knows! He didn't as of late '03 when I left him. It's nothing I wouldn't say to his face. My least favorite was 'supposably' and I used to tell him ALL the time. ICK!
