oh and one other thing - thanks marty reid - during the irl race he says something to the effect of you need to watch the nhra race today , after showing a side by side pic of danica and ashley. can't tell us exactly what went on, he says. Well what else would it be Mary. I mean seriously just tell us you think we're stupid. Just come out and say it. and then the whole build up to the final race I mean who do you think won.
maybe they grabbed a few extra viewers but they sure treated the loyal ones like dirt.

Re: Force A 1.70 light then up in smoke!
Ashley has been in 4 of the last 8 finals, 1 win, and she didn't back into the victory. She has been down the track without smoking the tires 12 runs in a row during eliminations and won 10 of them. Pretty darn good no matter what was going on in the other lane.

Re: Force A 1.70 light then up in smoke!
It may not have been anybody's ideal way to win the race. But she won and t he entire sport can reap the benefits of exposure that she's going to create.
If the semi finals had been the finals, there'd been no argument about Capps going up in smoke.
Tim and I had a long talk last night about how Ashley's going to have to 'Justify' this win. She shouldn't have to, as fans of the sport you guys should rally behind her and not cast doubt on the show that's put on.
I'm not a fan of any of the Force team, but I would have liked to see them go at it side by side, but that didn't happen.

Ashley didn't cut a very good light either, I think John really wanted to make her earn her first win...Did Worsham give the first round to her too??? I think not...

Re: Force A 1.70 light then up in smoke!
as far as johns light goes if you have ever driving a race car when the light comes on if something else is in your mind you our cutting a bad light and who knows what was on johns mind with all that he has been through in the last year and deep down he had to be pulling for his daughter just like ever other father would be if we were lucky enough to be in that situation. as bob fry would say or maybe he did i wasn't there she went right down broadway with stout 4.83 great win ASHLEY!

Re: Force A 1.70 light then up in smoke!
Maybe John was acting so mad because he didn't want it to look so obvious.
Either way, I am glad to see Ashley get her first of what will probably be, many wins. Heck, she may even beat her Dad in a final again!
If John Force did throw that race, did it hurt the sport? I would have to say no way it did. This was a win/win situation for NHRA. It was a good story, no matter who won. This is getting a lot of press and made the front page of ESPN.com. However it happened, it is done now, and it is bringing positive light to Drag Racing. Isn't it great to see an article on the front of ESPN.com that doesn't have anything to do with one of our drivers dying?
John Force is one heck of a business man. IF he did throw that race, it will turn out to be just another one of his brilliant moves. We can debate the issue all we want, but years from now when people are looking back on this, they won't be talking about whether or not John threw this race. And neither will I.

Re: Force A 1.70 light then up in smoke!
Back in the good old days a lot of pro's posted on Nitromater. I should say...Way back in the good ol' days...This thread is a prime example as to why they are all gone from this website.
A couple dozen posts about Ashley's supposed tainted win on Nitromater isn't going to rain on her (or anyone else's) parade.
The fact is, as stated here before, she ran good enough to win and had the most consistant FC on the grounds. And win she did.

I was very happy to see Ashley win, its very good for the sport, she has been to more than one final round and earned her shot, I just wonder if John the Dad was driving and let her have a chance that may not come real soon ,
I ment no disrespect to Ashley or John.

Re: Force A 1.70 light then up in smoke!
Personally I think John accidentally went up in smoke....IF and I repeat IF he wanted to throw the race there are a LOT MORE ways for him to throw the race & make it look good... Blowing the tires off is so obvious that I doubt John and his crew couldn't come up with a soft set up or just leave the head bolts loose or run it on 2 qts of oil...he can well afford a motor.. and who would know if it blew up at the 1/8 mile...

Or you could try holding you breath until we stop speaking our minds. Your signature isnt exactly giving this place a "good name" as you define it.

Tim's Son Andrew talking to his Dad:"Ashley Force won the race Dad."
Tim Talking to his Son Andrew."Was there a reason why she did Drew"
ANDREW'S RESPONSE: "Yes. Because in the Final round her car crossed the finish line 1st!"
Sometimes the mind of a 6 year old tends to come up with the most obvious answers to things folks. Stop diggin at something that's just not there!

Re: Force A 1.70 light then up in smoke!
As far as I'm concerned, as precious as a first win is, there's just no way that John would let Ashley get it by him doing a 9.5 off the high board, tainting it forever. No way.

Wow,I knew I would probably get pounded for starting this post but come on, I've been lurking on this board for about 5 yrs. and have been registered for the last 2,obviously this board has a huge JFR fan following. although I think putting my name on an ignore list for voicing my opinion is a little out there you can't dispute the fact that most of the talk of diving that has surfaced on this board since I have been here has involved JFR drivers. So think what you want,I don't totally dispute his car going up in smoke but a .170 light by a driver of Forces credentials is suspect to say the least.
