Noone threw a better shift than Ronnie. Next best...Herb McCandless, "Mr 4-Speed". What a great team those two were.

Re: Ronnie Sox
One of the benefits of being an old fart is that I saw Ronnie Sox race in person. Man was he smooth. When he ran a 4 spd you thought it was an automatic. Their cars were always in good shape and always had a chance to win. I am very thankful I was racing during that time.

Re: Ronnie Sox
Jim,
I had the privelege to work with and interview Ronnie at Monster Mopar Weekend at Gateway a few years back. We booked two SS/A (stick cars) in to match race each other and it brought the house down. I had both guys on the PA challenging each other...it was a hoot.
And yes...it sounded like an automatic on every gear change...it was a sight to see, and hear. It's amazing to see how violent those cars are when they drop the hammer on them. I'm convinced they leave "harder" than anything else. There are quicker 60' times out there, but nothing on gasoline is as violent.

Re: Ronnie Sox
I'm thankful that I had 'my' time in racing back in those days and could count Ronny & Buddy and all the rest, as competitors and friends.
