The rumor I've heard is that the Sportsnationals will be there next year. I know that the car count was disappointing at this year's sports at Columbus and the feeling is that the race being at Columbus really hurt the turnout. Also there were not many spectators. I bet there'll be both more spectators and more cars if the event is at Norwalk in the future-the Baders know how to promote.

Does anyone else think that maybe the NHRA is willing to overlook some of Norwalk's difficiencies in order to pull the IHRA's top track from it and hurt that organization which really seems to be growing by leaps and bounds. Throw in that Bill Bader seems to hold some sort of grudge against his old organization and associates, you have a real nice conspiracy. Hopefully, all this will lead to the necessary improvements to New York International Raceway Park so it can take Norwalk's place on the schedule due to its geography and the fact that it used to be the second biggest draw on the IHRA circuit.

Looks like I'll be booking a weeks vacation for this race, Ohio in July, nothing better, stay a cottage or condo at Gem Beach, go to Cedar Point (one of THE best amusment parks in the World, It makes Six Flags in Arlington look like a circus) go to Put-in Bay on South Bass Island, The Drag Race at NRP, wow this is gonna be fun. I grew up there in the seventies, Port Clinton, Sandusky, Norwalk, these were my stomping grounds in the summer.

Yea Joe, I've been to Columbus, it sucked! If you didn't sit above row 13 in the stands you could not see the car in the near lane. If you had to stand at the fence line, all you saw were the tops of the cars going down the track. I too wonder if this rumor holds up about Norwalk, how will it effect the Columbus race, since the NHRA owns the Columbus track. The NHRA needs to dump some money into Columbus, like new stands with backs on them and angle them away from the track like Bristol, raise those new stands up in the air about 12 feet and put vendors under them. They also need to add a Top Eliminator Club to Columbus.

Jackee hit on one real problem with Norwalk - the track competes with the weekend crowd at Cedar Point for hotel rooms since most of the hotel rooms are in Sandusky (so are most of the restaurants).

Man, is it just me or do the grandstands look awefully close to the strip?

The right-side stands are pretty close, the left-side stands set well back. Both have substantial standing room in front of them and are elevated so you can see over the standees. The reason they look so close is because they are so big.

The front of the original grandstand was about halfway between the current fence and the concrete guardwall. The old fence was about 10 ft. in front of that.
