I can see how this commercial might be confusing, but the wrapped nostalgia funny car was used as a metaphor for power, the parachutes used by athletes in the commercial is a training device to build strength...
NIKE Sparq.
The commercial was not about drag racing, NIKE does very little to acknowledge any form of motorsport - although they did create some NASCAR crew clothing a few years ago with Tony Stewart. NIKE is all about human power.
The Blue Max was driven by Jeff Arend. Cory Lee and Grant Downing serviced the car between camera set-ups.

NIKE gives a tremendous amount of help and support to athletes, just not in Motorsport.
