Near miss (Litton and Novelli)

I didn't see anyone mention the near miss when Litton pulled across in from of Novelli during round 2 of qualifying?

Where was the mis-communication in that, did Litton pull across the track without being giving the all clear or was the track official at the first turn off asleep at the switch????

I was wondering the same thing, that could really have been messy.

Just guessing but since it didn't get mentioned on the Sunday show I bet Litton wasn't at fault.

Novelli's engine was dieseling and wouldn't shut off.

From what I saw, the worker went through the regular motion, like he should have. Luigi's car was dieseling and he wasn't able to slow the car down enough...just my opinion.

You guys take all the fun out of blaming NHRA and how they conspired to keep it off of TV.

See ya at the races, I will be the guy in the foil ball cap.

Re: Near miss (Litton and Novelli)

It looked to me that guys in the right lane were taking the first turn-off and guys in the left lane were taking the turn off at the end of the track-Litton didn't and he crossed over into Novelli's path. Of course, Novelli was having a problem so he couldn't make that turn off, but if he had, I still think there would have been a problem with Litton.

Re: Near miss (Litton and Novelli)

It looked like to me the track official blew it by failing to monitor the speed and position of Novelli's car prior to giving Mr. Litton the go ahead to cross over. Having never seen a rear view/side view mirror attached to a top fueler, it's hard for me to imagine trusting numbnuts to direct me over a lane without knowing where the traffic is first.

Re: Near miss (Litton and Novelli)

Thank God that Litton's chutes collapsed to the ground a micro-second BEFORE Novelli ran over 'em. If they had still been inflated, that would have been UGLY at the speed Luigi was going.

Before they deflated, I was envisioning Bruce being dragged ass-first down the track.

Same thing happened to Bobby Lagana driving the BME car a few years back when he made a pass I think against Joe Hartley. The turn marshall waived Hartley in front of Lagana, and Lagana had no brakes, and had to stuff it in the wall to avoid Joe.

Re: Near miss (Litton and Novelli)

Glad to see the 2008 schedule posted on the web Tony. Based on that assumption are you guys in full swing mode this year?

Look forward to seeing you all in Tulsa!

Hey Tom, sorry but that schedule is not accurate. We'll know more in the next week or so about our 2008 season. It looks like we'll be staying pretty close to home this year.

I hope that changes and you guys will be able to make the full IHRA tour again this year. TJ made a hell of a run for the championship last year.

Scary business relying on someone else’s judgment when you can’t see the car in the other lane.

I bracket race so I usually have my eye on the other car the whole time, and I still check like 4 times before I’d cross in front of another car…. things happen.
