Update From 'the meet'
From Eric Howell, who is at the March meet....
"John Shoemaker went thru the lights with the throttle stuck". Anybody know if he is ok?

Re: Update From 'the meet'
This just makes me sick. I was so looking forward to hearing all the updates from this weekend. This is not what I wanted to hear. So sorry to hear this, my best to his family and friends.

Re: Update From 'the meet'
I am speechless right now... One of my hero's! God blessed us with his presence for 65 great years. I'll never forget him waving that American Flag after every burnout in the AMERICAN EAGLE Top Alcohol Dragster! God Speed Mr. Shoemaker! My condolences go out to his wife Judee and the entire Shoemaker family... A true AMERICAN in every since of the word!

I'm not sure about John's procedure with this T/F car, but in the past with the TAD, John would do the burnout and then while backing the car up, he'd stick an American Flag out and wave it for all to see. This always left me with a good feeling! The feeling of PRIDE, for being an American, knowing that the U.S. of America, is one of the few places in the world where we have had the freedoms to do pretty much anything we've ever wanted to do in life, even Drag Racing.
R.I.P. John!
Say a prayer for the Shoemaker Family!

I just got back from the track; I didn't feel much like staying for the second round of Nitro after the news. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
