The only downside of a push brake that I know if is it can be more difficult during severe braking to keep the car from hopping.

As for making it mandatory to have push brakes, I don't like the idea of mandating something like this. As long as a driver is comfortable & safe, either way should be fine.

It should be driver preference, I'll stay with my pull hand brake I just straighten my fingers out quickly to let go, when the brake lever goes forward when you release it you just have to move your hand over to grab the steering wheel, instead of having to pull your hand back, then have to reach forward again to grab the steering wheel.

Mike, congrats on your dad's induction. My dad was a chevy guy in Comp back in the day, and we always rooted for your father. Are you still racing a dragster yourself?

Mike congats on your father! I wish they would do the same for Gary Cochran. He is one of us left coasters that campained to the right coast in the 60s/70s also. He is a great guy and has been good for the sport.

The pull brake allows for a driver to pull the fire bottle(s) lever and brake handle in one motion/take...
Heard Tony P's explosion was so intense he never got the bottles off as he was on the brakes just wanting to stop...and I doubt the bottles would of helped his situation anyway.

It's kinda like trying to bail the water out of the Titanic with a spoon.
