Re: Response from Evan Knoll

Let the man be, he needed to take a year off to get healthy again, it's better than the alternative. Evan will be back in 09 so everone just have to wait!

What Evan needs now is best wishes, and prayers for a complete recovery, for what he has done for drag racing over the past few years, it's the least we could do in return!

Help me figure this one out?

Did the "Bash Evan" bandwagon have a wheel come off during it's high speed run and violently crash or did it somehow just go over a cliff?

yes thanks for all the $$$$ you spend on your hobby evan, but come on "come get some" "f-bombs?" sounds about like a tenth grade dropout. im not sure how you made billions and dont really care. does drag racing really need that gansta attitude? i dont think so . drag racing was here before the foul mouthed billionaire and will be here after. get well soon so you can go to the races and f--k some people up! maybe the wwf could use some torco cash?

More than likely all of the "Evan Bashers" have one thing in common, that being jealosy.

I think they got WAY out of shape and wisely aborted the run!

Of course, we can now question why they aborted their run, what REAL reason(s) they did it for other than what they said, whether they owe us an apology for it, and whether legal action is now needed!

what's the deal bobby? that's three post in one thread where you are TRYING TO INSTIGATE another argument. maybe some people feel this topic has beat itself to death, and want to lay it to rest because we have more important things to do.

i have opinions on that classy press release, but i'm choosing to keep them to myself. if you REALLY want to know how some of "us" feel, PM me instead of trying to start an internet war. if you are really interested in what i have to say (which i don't think you are), i'll give you an earful.

Bobby, do you think it is because they have nothing to say? It is no different then you not responding when you were called out for bashing Don Schumacher without any facts.

Re: Response from Evan Knoll

Nice response explaining nothing except how much money you (Evan) have....and BTW the family started TORCO and Evan kept the ball rolling...
And why would Evan respond to web site critics like this place...No business is ever exempt from negative comments...That was weak...
Check out the other boards Evan that have current nitro players typing away and what they have to say about your company..
People w/in the industry that were left hanging due to this sponsors decision will not post here w/ their real thoughts on this matter..
I would like to see the list of potential owners that would fly your colors for the the future...can you say "one lump payment" or we have no deal...
Get a clue and continue to cut the ESQ's their sponsorship checks as you will be employing them w/ these impulsive decisions on stepping away and short-changing certain owners...
You know the teams that I am talking about...

Bobby, I'll help..
Please, stop this silly cheerleading of yours. You are acting like you have a motive, and looking for some dollars to fall your way. Your brown nosing may be sport to you, but there are some fine people out there who just had a cigar snuffed out on their forehead, and I'm sure it hurts deeply.
Imagine yourself in debt and suddenly not having the cash promised?
Oh yeah....
Your tune sure would change 180 degrees if you were one of the people affected, that is unless mommy & daddy are there to pick up the pieces for you...
We are from different worlds of thinking my friend. I'm not in Torco's universe of capital generated for which I have emmense respect for, but I have done pretty good all by myself, without a lot of help, all without leaving an obligation unattended, and there isn't a person in this world who can say different. I am very passionate about my character, and it drives me to be a better man, husband and father, and I'll be damned if I stray from that for any reason..
BTW, I have just a 12th grade education..

I apologized, not because of what I said, but because I thought he deserved the benefit of the doubt before anybody, including me could intelligently comment on the facts.
I don't know the man, I don't claim to know him, or his business, and I certainly have not a clue about what his health problems involve. I've never met him and I don't claim to know anybody who does. So, I waited for his "press release" and now i can react. Therefore, these are strictly my opinions and observations.

Now,
I was quietly waiting and expecting a businesslike, professional response to explain just what happened, and why. We do deserve to know why folks.
I guess I expected more from someone touting the Ernst & Young award. (Gotta wonder how those guys would react to their recipient)
What we got was something extremely revealing about his character.
This profanity filled tirade IMO answered absolutely nothing about those effected other than they are now S-O-L for 2008. The only thing he did was to boastfully serve himself.
He told us he's rich, he's a bad-ass, (there is always someone around the corner bigger and badder my friend) he's a "B"illionaire, but stopped paying what he promised to dozens of businessmen and women.
Um, geez, I kind of have a problem with that from anybody who walks the Earth.. I would think most people who earn their own living would get this.
Then, he included God several times, as if that was some sort of devine justification for his uncontrolled reactions.
I sure hope God doesn't have an ego like that , or needs it stroked by you, Bobby.

Read a little bit of this from the NHRA website:

Quote:

"I got 13 engines lined up ready to go, I got a new trailer on the way here, I got a great crew in place, all the pieces are here, this was going to be our year," Foley said. "Then, boom, just like that it's over. It's a very tough deal. On one hand, I feel terrible for him, On the other hand I'm sitting here thinking not many people got a chance to see what we were capable of so I don't know if anyone out there will even think of us if they decided to jump in and support one of these teams.

Class act Mr. Foley, you have my respect.
What about this fine man and his team Bobby?
Are "you" sending him a check instead, therefore his business and employees aren't harmed?
Should he go bankrupt, is that just fine with you?
Nah, doesn't affect you at all, you're mommy has the electric bill paid in full for you. If his employees have young children they need to support, are you good with that while you comment on the bandwagoneers?
Do you think words like "Inspriational", Testicular Fortitude" "B" as in Billionaire, or even more comical yet, "Refreshing Straight Talk" are appropriate to fix his problems or give him viable short term solutions?
I just can't believe what I read out of this subject..

I would bet that any well run team with the proper ownership will take an all new perspective on who and what kind of person they are deal with in the future, and some will probably not choose to deal with a flawed entity again.
The one thing I take from all of this is what a wonderful professional Mike Ashley is. Sir, you handled this well, with class and dignity. When the chips fell, and we ALL know what you are feeling. You are in the same professional catagory as Kenny Bernstein, and that I feel is the highest compliment I can give you. Props to the rest of the effected teams, and may your landing be soft and successful.

I certainly wish him a quick and speedy recovery and a healthy future. Everybody should treasure good health, but I think I've seen enough to know what I don't want to see in the future of the NHRA.
Here's some more God stuff, but it's the other side of the sword..
As the Bible says, "His judgement cometh, and that right soon"...
And, maybe sooner..
Let's hope!

don't forget he threaten to fight anyone who questioned him in person.

Re: Response from Evan Knoll

This is a unique situation as there have never been a company in NHRA history to sponsor so many cars, but Evan or anyone else with those kinds of dollars can do that if they wish and it's a free country to do so. And kudo's to Evan's big heart and I for one hope that he will have a full and speedy recovery.

Having said that, most of us just see the multiple sponsorship announcements and then see the whole program stop on a dime and wonder what happened. This, or any similar situation involving another company or sponsor would open the same door to questions or speculation as that's just human nature to do. It's a story so big that it's can't be ignored. It doesn't mean that those on Nitromater that are asking questions hate or have animosity towards Evan or Torco.
