Re: Did Force and KB Crash?
I am truly glad to hear that, while still serious, John's injuries aren't nearly as bad as I had first heard.
Get well soon John. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire John Force Racing team.

Dave Uyehara crashed into the back of someone at Pomona in a very scary incident. That's when Dave earned the reputation of personally crash testing his own cars.

Uyehara & Ron Correnti driving for Bill Dunlap- mid 80's
There have been others, but John was not even at the controls when his car/debris/and butterfly went into Bernstien- That's how wild that is- ><still shaking my head-

Re: Did Force and KB Crash?
It looked like to me the left rear went first and possibly created some kind of dynamic twisting vibrations that effected the cage part of the car, looked like car broke the rest of the way right after the blower lifted, never seen anything like this. Hope they can figure out exactly what caused this, hope to never see anything like this again. Get well soon John

Re: Did Force and KB Crash?
I was a little irritated when Paul Page came in live with a shot of John's pit about an hour into the tape delayed coverage to describe the wreck and give a quick update as to his status and Kenny Bernstein's status. Then they said the wouldn't show it for 45 minutes. I couldn't believe they'd cut in, say that, then not let us see what happened right away. Then once I saw it I realized exactly why: because it was such an ugly crash and knowing that he was OK while watching it prevented me from freaking out. I'm no Force fan, but, I'm a drag racing fan and I don't like seeing anyone wreck, much less suffer serious injuries. So, kudos to ESPN2 for giving a heads up, because I didn't watch the NASCAR race (was watching football) and steer clear of the 'Mater, nhra.com, etc. on race day. I even turn my BlackBerry off so I don't get any e-mails from DSR. This was a surprise to me even though many other Maters were aware of it much sooner.
John is most certainly in my thoughts. I had back surgery to repair a herniated disc 18 months ago. I'm 29. And I still wake up stiff in the morning. I can only imagine how much more painful John's injuries will be not to mention the recovery. I don't know how long they'll keep him in the hospital but I wouldn't be surprised if he's up and walking around on crutches by next Sunday. Realistically driving anytime soon is out of the question but I seriously doubt they'll be able to keep John away from the track as long as Robert and Ashley are racing.
They'll probably get him a golf cart, though, to replace his scooter. Here's a pic I took during the only round of qualifying they got in at Pacific Raceways in July. I was lucky to be forced to stand in the sponsor viewing area not too far from the starting line. I just thought this is typical John Force.

Re: Did Force and KB Crash?
as don bennett put about the loads of smoke out the headers tells me the motor most likely kicked a rod or two out and the pieces most likely cut the tire. the burst panel also came out of the body.
